I loved basically everything about this property! Great location, very clean, comfy room with aircon, well priced, extremely friendly and helpful staff. You can buy food/snacks for a reasonable price and they have free coffee and tea as well as hot and cold filtered water. Has a nice little balcony where you can watch the rain. Not incredibly social, but it’s also off season so I can’t imagine there would be anywhere more social in the area to be honest. Was clear about the fact that the blue fire at Ijen would not be available the days we were there and the staff was not pushy at all about buying tours, just very helpful. Honestly one of the best price to experience ratios I’ve ever gotten at a hostel, and the perfect place to chill or prepare for a hike. Also one of the cutest cats I’ve ever seen if my life lives here, she is friendly and very funny.

Talk about luck! I tried to book their hostel again, but they were fully booked! Luckily, I switched to their homestay, and the service was just as wonderful. While the location is a little out of town, the fantastic service completely made up for it! The room was spotlessly clean, and their bed was seriously comfortable. Being able to watch Netflix right in my room? That’s a luxury I rarely found throughout my trip in Indonesia!

Allez-y les yeux fermés ! Un Hostel incroyable, on s'y sent comme à la maison, très bien emménagé et très propre. Nous avons réservé cet hostel pour une nuit et nous avons finalement décidé de prolonger. Le personnel est extrêmement gentil et arrangeant. Ils ont organisé notre séjour à la perfection et nous ont même invité le soir à faire du badminton. Merci pour tout !

Property, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen were super clean. Bed and AC were comfortable. We booked the Ijen tour with the host Johan and had a great experience. Price seemed fair. We got helpful recommendations from Johan's nephew for local spots. Johan offers other tours we wished we could have taken advantage of (but we had to move on to our next destination). We'd stay here again!

Maison Manendra is not only a hotel/guesthouse but a whole concept. The rooms are big and comfortable with an ensuite bathroom with a warm water shower. The food is good and portions are generous. You mostly eat at a big table with other guests but if you don't like it you are not forced to socialize. After dinner, Rani and Oussama ask what you are planning to do the next day. If you are planning to do the Bromo walking tour and other guests like to join, you share a car (and the cost of it)... or not if you prefer to go alone. We had the chance to share cars for the Bromo walking tour and for the Tumpak Sewu waterfall and could cut the cost and have a good time with fellow travellers. Rani and Oussama offer solutions for most of your travelling problems: transportation to Maison Manendra from Malang, Bromo Tour without other people around you, tour to Tumpak Sewu with a fantastic guide, taxi to Surabaya... and many more. Rani and Oussama travel a lot in and out of Indonesia and are well aware of what you need during your Java trip. If you are looking for luxury, it is not the place for you. As for myself, I got far more than I expected. Merci Rani et Oussama, c'était absolument super!
