This place is amazing, the rooms spotless , large and very well decorated, they have thought of everything. The food was one of the best we have had so far in Sri Lanka, and they accommodated our every need. Couldn't recommend this place enough.. love love loved it.

You will truly relax here. The property is pretty much spotless and located just meters from the Indian Ocean, which means you can hear the waves ALL NIGHT. The staff is super attentive and thoughtful, from the caretakers to the bartenders to the management. I was also pleasantly surprised to find real Neapolitan pizza, a wide selection of Italian wines, and caffè corretto with Sambuca (!) – just when I started missing European flavors a bit ;) And if that wasn’t enough, the yoga classes first thing in the morning put you in a blissful mood. Would definitely come back <3

Lucky Bay ist ein toller Ort, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Atmosphäre, der Garten und die Nähe zum Strand sind super! Besonders an der Unterkunft ist vor allem der Gastgeber, der sehr herzlich, offen und stets hilfsbereit ist. Trotz des kurzen Aufenthalts ein tolles Erlebnis, wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Die Unterkunft Charitha Rest, die in Ampara gelegen ist, verfügt über einen Garten, eine Gemeinschaftslounge, eine Terrasse und kostenloses WLAN. Charitha and his family were great hosts and extremely attentive to all our needs (ready to go above and beyond). The food was delicious, the room was large and clean with an air conditioning that worked almost too well, there is a seating area in the garden from which you can hear birds and witness monkeys walking along the electrical wires. The property is walking distance (30 min) from Owagiriya Natabun Viharaya (Buddhist temple ruins) and as we were on our way Charitha kindly gave us a lift, as well as to another destination later during our stay. Both the father and mother are absolute sweethearts, and are more than happy to sit down with you for a chat (I had a little well needed Sinhalese crash course). From what I can see they are building more rooms/bungalows and a restaurant in the back, but as of February 2025 it truly had that quaint local feel I look for when I travel.

Nice garden with friendly staff and good comfortable rooms! Everything we needed! Tari, had already cleaned our room even though we arrived earlier and forgot to inform him, the room was pretty comfortable with a big bed, small table and hangers to organize our stuff, bathroom and a balcony in the entrance. There is space for parking and for surfboards besides a collective area for breakfast. The homestay is about 3 minutes walking from the beach and from the center of the city but is still protected from noise. We really liked our stay!
