Monsaraz is one of our favorite places and the chance to stay within the walls is priceless! Carlos looked after us very well and the breakfast was one of the best we had. We loved the rooftop pool and patio area. We stayed in a street facing room and it was quiet at night (mainly pedestrians) and the steet view very nice.

What made the stay unforgettable, though, were the small moments: walking along the wooden viewpoints by the lake, savoring the peaceful landscape, and exploring the "Horta do Chefe" where we met baby goats and other animals. It felt like being connected to nature without giving up any comfort. Octant Évora captures the soul of Alentejo: slow, warm, delicious, and full of life. I can't wait to come back in the summer and enjoy it all over again, this time with even more sun, pool time, and long walks by the water :)

The hotel is located 6 km from the ruins of the Roman city Ammaia. Nearby leisure activities include hiking and swimming in the Sever River. Free public parking is possible on site. We got upgraded to the best room, that has a small terrace with a stunning view and direct access to the jacuzzi that we also enjoyed after booking in the reception. Everyone was nice, the room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast.

Surrounded by vast, tree-lined gardens, the charming Convento São Paulo offers 2 outdoor pools a tennis court and offers 4 padel courts. Housed in a former Alentejo convent, it dates back to the 12th century with 750 hectares. A very interesting convent in lovely countryside. We could explore the historic building. We were here in November so didn’t get chance to use the swimming pool but that looked worth coming back for. There are a couple of great walks laid out in the Convent estate. We had a good dinner in the restaurant. The room and breakfast were excellent, staff very helpful. We have already recommended it to friends who also travel in the area.
