We chose Kikuchi instead of Kumamoto, to get away from the city before our trip to Mt Aso. We got a lovely country house, but the main benefit was the lovely couple who hosted us. Super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed breakfast, my wife skipped hers, so the host packed it as a bento box for our lunch. Vegetables from the garden. A guided visit to the forest to see fireflies. Tastes of local food and drink. It was if we were lodging with my favourite aunt and uncle.

The property was the perfect getaway for us on our way to Mt Aso. Located in the mountain it gave us the opportunity to relax completely. Despite the staff not being able to speak much English, we were taken care of in the best way possible.

Exclusive and charming. The wood fire stove was our entertainment :P Mayumi who manages the cottage and the cafe next to it was gracious and ensured we were comfortable. PS: the breakfast AND christmas stollen were delicious!

Die Unterkunft Rakuten STAY VILLA Aso Kurokawa -105 1LDK pet allowed Capacity of 6 persons verfügt über eine Sauna und ist in Minamioguni gelegen. Really amazing house and location. We didn't walk to the nearby onsen town, but it is walkable (a bit of a hill), and there are many walking trails around the house. This house has a fence for dogs but we didn't travel with pets and found it made a great yard for our kids to play. The onsen bath in the house is great and there is plenty of space.

Sehr netter Empfang, hat mit Google Translator gearbeitet. Onsenbenützung inkl., reserviert für 1 Std zur privaten Nutzung. Da am Morgen kein Taxi verfügbar war, bot der Chef uns an, uns zum Bahnhof zu fahren. Vielen Dank :-)

Stayed for a night to experience glamping in Japan. We reserved a cabin and requested for charcoal bbq (top up a small fee for the charcoal bbq). Love the BBQ right at our glamping unit. They provide vegetables, rice, soup and drinks for bbq, they are self-service and complimentary. Breakfast is also provided by self service too. Staff are helpful and friendly. Really a lovely experience.
