I had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at Ikkoten with my three children, and our stay was nothing short of perfection. We were originally going to stay as a family of 5 at the KAI Yufuin but when an important business trip took my husband out of the vacation we had to quickly pivot because my ten year old son wouldn’t have been able to use the hot springs alone there. The reservable family onsen as well as our private indoor/outdoor onsen (we stayed in Kyara) allowed him to have as wonderful an experience as the girls and I. While the family onsen is great, we loved the convenience and privacy of our private one so much that we ended up using the family onsen only once. Notably, this is not a part of Japan where there’s a ton of English spoken, but the staff at Ikkoten had excellent English, which was super helpful for us as American visitors. They were super accommodating of the kids and provided samue (pajamas that are also worn to meals), geta (wooden sandals), and slippers in multiple sizes. The grounds are beautiful - a back drop of tall seeene forest (you can always here the serene sound of wind rushing through the leaves and pine needles), mountains at Mt Yufu on the other sides, and then a beautiful manicured garden. Our late March stay marked the beginnings of all kinds of blooms, and just standing outside you’d catch the perfumed scent of all kinds of beautiful flowers. The meals were absolutely incredible. The kids got wonderful multi-course meals of rice and tempura and miso soup (with a little bit of new and interesting dishes to try too). My 12 year old daughter was considered an adult by the resort, but when I requested kids meals for her, they were happy to pivot after 24 hours (the kaiseki meals were just too much for her 40kg frame!!). But those kaiseki meals were truly scrumptious. When booking the property for multiple nights, I hadn’t realized how overwhelming they could be, and I swear I gained like 10lbs just in those 3 days alone!!

Tolles modernes Zimmer, mit Blick auf den Fluss. Das Hotel ist sehr zentral gelegen, daher befindet sich alles in direkter Nähe. Achtung: die Zimmer haben keine eigene Dusche, es gibt aber 3 private Onsen zum Baden und Duschen. Ein tolles Erlebnis.

Das Yufuin-Sanso Waremokou verfügt über große Zimmer im japanischen Stil mit einer Badewanne aus Zypressenholz, die sich im Freien befindet und aus einer natürlichen heißen Quelle gespeist wird. Amazing service and a beautiful room with private onsen! Will definitely come back

Great location, very convenient access about 10-15 minutes walk from Beppu station. Incredibly comfortable beds, slept like a baby. Wifi worked well, we could stream movies without issues. The kitchen has everything you need to make a quick breakfast. Overall great value!

The apartment is very well located, not far from the station, and has absolutely everything you could need, you can really feel that the host has thought of every detail to make guests feel at home. It’s clean, comfortable, and spacious. When I had a small issue with the air conditioning (my mistake), the host immediately came over and fixed it. He also let me extend my stay in another room to see the fireworks! The host is incredibly kind, welcoming, and always making sure everything is perfect. Honestly, worth going up the stairs for such a thoughtful place!
