The staff was accommodating and offered shuttle to the monkey park and shuttle back to the station during check out. You are invited to wear your yukata (if you want) during your stay to make the experience is more traditional and other guests also wear the yukata in the hotel. The onsen was very good and we also had a lavish dinner and breakfast. This is such a lovely place, definitely somewhere to go if you are looking for a traditional Japanese experience. We wish we would have stayed longer!

There is an on-site restaurant and free private parking. Guests can use the hot spring bath and the hot tub, or enjoy mountain views. The staff was so friendly and kind! They didn’t speak English (we’re from the USA), but made sure to translate everything until we understood. Very easy and friendly! The beds were incredibly cozy. Everything was as expected and noted on the listing. It was great to have a driver to and from the monkeys. The staff helped us with late check out when one of our people got sick. There is a karaoke room in the basement that was very fun on our last night, and we wish we found out about it sooner! We loved the traditional Ryokan experience! We’re very happy with our stay!

Guests can warm up by the fireplace in the lounge or soothe in the spacious public bath. Okushiga Kogen Hotel Mae Bus Stop is a 1-minute walk away. Location amazing, very 1950’s vibe and excellent for relaxing with family with adult children. ski on ski out was great and field excellent for beginners/ intermediate skiers with no queues as at far end of the Shiga fields. Staff professional and friendly. loved our 5 nights.

The place is super authentic - it feels like stepping someone's home rather than a touristic establishment. If you are looking for such a feeling, then this one is the right place. It is technically a bit messy and full of staff, in general it looks a bit dated, but it all adds to the charm and - since everything works perfectly anyway - it is all positive to me The owner is such a great guy - he was very nice to us, even offering us a ride to the Snow Monkey Park, and in general explaining us a lot about the food or some cultural aspects. He speaks great English by the way The location is good, an easy walk to the train station and the public onsen, as well as a 15-minute walk to Shibu Onsen The food was so delicious - generous portions, good quality, great focus on fish
