Everything about this accomodation was beyond my expectations. We arrived to a beautiful traditional room, guided to a private room for a wonderful evening vegetarian meal, and then walked the town until close of the temple. The futons were soft and comfortable, the room showed us how easy it would be to live under these conditions. Slept through the prayer session at the temple (unfortunately) at 6am but the breakfast was another marvellous meal in our private dining room.

Giovanni and Utaka are very nice and friendly people. They picked us up at the train station with a car which helped a lot. Food was amazing. Giovanni also showed us a goat farm which was very lovely. We recommend this place 100%, you won’t regret it.

The holiday home is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. everything is perfect. I wish I could stay 10 more days there. The host is super nice. His 烧鸟店 is excellent too!

Spectacular service, very clean, excellent Japanese meals with full explanations for foreign guests, very quiet traditional rooms with modern public areas, traditional Onsen (our room had its own toilet but bathing is public in separate male and female baths (this might seem like a big deal to some but we embraced it as rare opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese Ryokan. Stayed here 2 nights to complete the Hongu loop of the Kumano Kodo in one day (traveling to and from the property is possible using reliable and inexpensive public transportation; it will take a day to get there from Tokyo and another day to return). The staff speak excellent English and I can’t say enough about their professionalism and care for their guest’s comfort.
