It's outside of town, but easy and cheap to rent a scooter or catch a ride with a local for little money.. Perfect if you want to stay somewhere more quiet but very welcoming. Booked the Lan Ha bay day tour and everything was well planned and an amazing experience. Highly recommend, if I'll ever be that way again, I will rebook for sure!

It’s stunning in pictures, but even more breathtaking up close. The view from the pool is surreal, and it’s a treat to dine and drink outside. You’re a few kilometres away from town, which is great for disconnecting from the usual humdrum of shops and tourists. Huy took great care of us, helped book a reasonably priced boat tour, and made us feel right at home. Breakfast and the a la carte dinner of Vietnamese fare were both delicious. If you’re in Cat Ba, this is a great place to stay for a different experience than the usual.
