Backwaters was a lovely spot on the doorstep to the western gate of Wilpattu. They organised a game drive for us (where we saw lots), a river trip and boat ride to our next destination. The rooms and grounds are full of nice, environmentally friendly touches, and the meals are great. Since the centre of the park is a little ways from this gate, a full day game drive turned out to be better than a half day - and allowed usto see lots of elephants at the end of the day.

We had a wonderful time. The accommodation was awesome and better then expected. The AC worked good and the pool was very nice to cool down. Around the accommodation there were a few monkeys to spot and observe. The best was the staff, especially Shantha. He's done everything to fulfill our wishes. The manager Manori is doing a good job too. Unfortunately, we had not the time to meet her in person.

Our stay at the Wilpattu Safari Resort was truly memorable and highly enjoyable. The resort is brilliantly located, offering the ultimate convenience as it is right near the entrance of the Wilpattu National Park, making early morning safari trips seamless. The resort itself is beautifully designed. Its architecture is stunning and perfectly suited to the natural surroundings, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and genuinely connected to the wilderness. The rooms are very comfy; we especially appreciated the comfort of the bedding, guaranteeing a great night's sleep after a long day of game viewing. However, the true highlight of our visit was the exceptional friendliness of the staff, particularly Ravindu, the Assistant Manager. His attentive service and warm demeanor were outstanding. It’s clear he truly enjoys hosting his guests, always going the extra mile with a genuine smile to ensure every need is met. Ravindu's passion for hospitality made our experience special and personal! Thank you Ravindu and team!

Close proximity to Wilpattu National Park. The Glamping style accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable, with true safari feel to it. Great food and great service. The in-house safari organisation was seamless.

The owner and her family are such warm people that made us feel truly welcome. The food at the hotel was great! The hotel itself was close to the park, and had a very zen feel. The hotel has only been open for 3 months so everything was brand new. We booked a safari with the hotel and this was great as well, with an amazing breakfast to go. We would recommend it to everyone!

Loved the delicious evening buffet. What a treat to try so many different dishes all prepared by the family. We were travelling with a disabled gentleman in a wheelchair the staff were wonderful accommodating all our needs.

Very nice experience we had at this accommodation 👌 The members of the staff are very kind and you get this family warmth feeling when you stay at this place. Dinner is just amazing!!❤️ homemade food full of different flavors and made with a lot of love. For the rest everything was well arranged with the safari tours. 100% recommended 👌

Wow, what a little gem this place is. Highly recommend letting the Wildhideaway team look after you while you visit Wilpattu National Park. The suite was very spacious even for a family of 4. The bathroom was huge and modern with a nice hot water shower. The plunge pool was delightful, so refreshing. Location was so quiet and the air conditioner worked perfectly so made for very comfortable sleep. They arranged our full day safari at a good price, we didn’t need to do anything but turn up. They packed breakfast and lunch for us and then had dinner ready when we came home! The thing that made this place so special was the warm and friendly service from Anta and his team. Always there with a huge smile, making us feel so welcome, and the food they made for us (as vegetarians) was SO delicious, the best we’ve had in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka.
