We came to Hotel Playa Laguna Front to unplug, relax, and enjoy the lagoon -- and that's exactly what we did for 5 days. The hotel is in a prime location, sitting at perhaps the most colorful, swimmer-friendly part of the lagoon. You can tell it's a prime spot because a lot of boat tours end around this area to let people swim in the lighter waters there near the cenote. It's also only a couple kms from the town center, so you can easily get into town while still having enough distance from the more touristy center. The hotel itself isn't a fancy upscale place, but that's not what we were looking for. Nonetheless the hotel is new and the facilities are clean/modern with great bathrooms. The hotel is run by a lovely team who were really accommodating...big thanks to the manager Evaristo for always being there to help with any questions. Another great thing is that the kayaks and sup-boards are free to use from 6am to 6pm. The only day you can't use them is on Wednesday when no water activities (other than swimming) are allowed across the lagoon. Wednesdays are conservation days, with inactivity allowing the lagoon to restore itself.

breakfast was good on both the days. there's always scrambled eggs, cheese slices, sliced luncheon meat (deli), oj, coffee, fruit bowl, bread, jam, butter, amazing corn bread, muesli, yogurt and a toaster to toast ur bread. the views are special here and the waters are perfect throughout the day and early night too. not deep at all so safe for everyone. I loved everything about this hostel. The location was great, close to supermarkets, restaurants, bars and city Center. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms and bathrooms always very clean. I stayed 10 days as I was working and I found different spots from where I could work and have my meetings. The hostel has a chilled vibe, so it was great as well to rest. The staff was the best part! All very friendly, we hanged out and had a good time together. Cooking lessons, and parties with Gus the DJ were the best!

Our stay at Bluebayou was wonderful, the hotel is simply amazing with a breathtaking view on the lagoon. The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed. The location is absolutely amazing and so are the staff. We couldn't speak Spanish and the staff were extremely accommodating. They set up a WhatsApp group which makes everything extra smooth. The staff were helpful in booking taxis (and translating our needs for various stops to the drivers). Highly recommend availing of the kayaks (free) and jet ski to see more of the lagoon. We walked along a lot of the lagoon and visually seemed to be by far the best location to stay.

Puerta del Cielo is the best hotel one can find in Bacalar. We were 2 couples who booked 2 rooms with lagoon views and we were mesmerized by the beauty of this hotel and the atmosphere. When we arrived, they immediately opened the doors to paradise, carried our luggage and we were greeted by all the employees which seemed very personal, friendly and made us feel incredibly welcomed. We received a welcome drink, did our check in and then received a tour of the hotel grounds before heading to our rooms. Let me just say that this is without a doubt the most beautiful boutique hotel one could possibly find not just in Mexico but probably anywhere. The bar, the path that stretches throughout the hotel, the pools (one next to the bar and the other one overlooking the lagoon), the balconies, rooms, the view, staff, the dock, EVERYTHING is perfect! There is quiet jazz music playing in the background in the patio and everything is just perfect! We also loved the idea of not having the typical breakfast that we received in 5 other hotels while traveling around Yucatan and Q.R. Every 4 and 5 star hotel would offer the same thing every day, which after 2 weeks becomes a bit dull and P.D.C. was a perfect little break from the usual routine. They don’t offer rooms with breakfast included. You get a menu (which is very good with lots of options) and you order through Whatsapp all over the hotel. You just write what you want and where and they bring it to you. And the food - WOW, they work so hard for every single dish!!! Also, a lot of staff would remember who we were and would call us by name which I really appreciate. We even had a dinner on the dock and it was our favorite dinner in our lives! We were greeted by our chef who recommended the catch of the day and it was delicious! I/we want to come back to Puerta del Cielo many times and just hope to have the opportunity to do it.

While I did try and find a reasonably priced place in a good location, there were a few things that could be improved. The one good thing was the restaurant across the street Alhambra was awesome (open at about 8:30). Cedro Rojo isn't far from the beach or downtown and is a quiet location. A night or 2 is ok until you find something else...

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. It was close to the only free jetty by the lagoon and walking distance to the town center. The part of the hotel that I was in was very new, modern and sparkling clean. Definitely a nice place to stay.

Great location in central Bacalar, Ricardo was really helpful providing information of what to do in Bacalar and he booked us on to a sunrise paddle board experience which was brilliant. He even very kindly picked us up and dropped us off to the paddle boarding at 5.30 am! Would 100% recommend this place to stay in Bacalar

Overall, a pleasant stay with a convenient location about 2.5 kilometers from the city center, which is easily walkable. Taxis to the center cost around 50 pesos one way. Great beachfront location with the added bonus of kayaks available anytime.

The location, warm welcome with lemonades, very cute cottages. The bed was big and comfortable and we really liked our chairs in front of the cottage. Even better, the lakeside spot where you can chill and use the kayaks. We spend a lot of time here since its very relaxing. We also really liked the free use of bicycles. They were in perfect state and you can borrow a lock. max 10 min bike ride to the city centre (3km). Best place we stayed in in Mexico so far! Thank you!

The hotel stays in an excellent location in a quiet part of the town, close to the beach and not so far from the town center. Both the house and the room are very clean. They clean it up daily. The staff is very frendly and helpfull. Breakfast - Excellent! Great choice, you can eat as much as you wants - eggs with bacon or vegetable, beans, toasts, stuffed omelette, pancakes, müssli, joghurt, fruits, coffee, milk, tea, juice. We really recommend the hotel!

Great room with amazing lagoon view, clean and nice staff. To get to the city center it requires to get a taxi, but its not that bad as its cheap and not longer than 10 min to get there. The hotel has its private lagoon entrance so its worth its far location from the center. The hotel offers boats tours reservations.

Best location. So close to main square and most tours run directly from the Yak House. It was expensive for a double room but for the convenience of location and beautiful lake view I think it is worth it. Shower and bathroom in lobby made it easy for our late afternoon bus as we could check out and store our luggage and freshen up before leaving.

The manager Santiago was so friendly and helpful. He always had a smile on his face and asked that you were happy with your stay. The rooms were very roomy and clean. The accommodation is an excellent location, very central and close to the main square just a few minutes walk away. The accommodation had a nice vibe, very relaxed and quiet. I loved chilling on the hammocks in the garden area. Highly recommend this place to stay.

-The room was super lovely, spacious and just relaxing. -The barthroom was setup well, good shower -The room was also super clean which i like a lot -The location was so close the the city center it was really useful, just a 5 minute walk and you where in the big square of the town - The breakfast option was small in the restaurant(next door) but a welcoming gesture, with well selected options of quality dishes This is a good place if you visit Bacalar
