Places to Stay in Shelter Cove

we had all we could ask for and more,the house cames with everything you could need to make our stay comfortable also recommend visiting Mario's great little spot for an easy dinner

The location is magnificent, Shelter Cove is an amazing place. The apartment, on top of the cliff overlooking the ocean, close enough to hear the roaring of the waves throughout the night. The footpath down to the beach is a great bonus, a bit of a workout for me, but enjoyed the walk down and up again each day. The apartment is well equipped, fridge freezer, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher. Lots of plug sockets. Plenty of towels, shower gel etc Lovely bedrooms, plenty of hanging space. Great watching the sunset, then the stars in the sky from the hot tub.

Amazing location and view from the balcony. Very beautiful.

Location, location, location. Yes, it's expensive. Yes it's a pain to get to. But boy, is it worth the effort. Fantastic!

-The location was precious! The sea views from the room and the grounds are poster-worthy. Short walk to black sand beaches. Tidepools nearby. A tiny community that feels a world away from my daily cares. -The innkeeper has done a great job furnishing each room with unique pieces. She is hospitable without being intrusive and gave us local insights on where to go and what to do. -The bed was SO comfortable that after coming home and sleeping in my own bed, I immediately decided to buy a new bed! -The room we stayed in (Queen Room) is like a studio apartment with full kitchen, living room area, bed area, and private patio / deck. Perfect for a couple's getaway into privacy and seclusion on the coast!

The road to Shelter Cove to the "Black Sands Inn" is challenging and winds for about 20 miles. On the day of our arrival, we still didn't have an access code for self-check-in by 4 p.m., so before we took the road to Shelter Cove, we called the hotel's hotline, which confirmed our booking and assured us that the access code would be sent to us immediately by email. When we arrived at the "Black Sands Inn," we realized there was absolutely no smartphone reception. We tried calling the hotline, but we didn't get a signal, possibly because our phone provider is in Germany, and the transmission wasn't working at that location. We asked guests, who gave us the hotel's Wi-Fi password, but it didn't work, so we started to panic, as it was already after 5 p.m. ``` Luckily, we found a free "Starlink" while searching for Wi-Fi – only to discover that we hadn't received an email with a room number or an access code. An American couple lent us their smartphone, which we used to call the hotline again, and the necessary data was finally given to us directly over the phone. Two guests told us that they had experienced the same drama upon arrival and were also very upset about this situation, as the door locks are also very unreliable. This truly no service in providing room details and the lack of access data on the part of the hotel, and that guests knowing that there is no smartphone reception, is absolutely unacceptable. The suite itself, the location, and the cleanliness of the hotel are truly top-notch. Being able to see the Pacific Ocean and the wildlife from the living room window was fantastic. On the first evening, a guest knocked on our door because his door lock had locked and his access code no longer worked, but his smartphone was in the room. We gave the guest our smartphone, and he then had to get a new access code from the hotline.

Incredible location and setting which outweigh all other considerations. Lovely bathrooms. Check in details v efficient. Breakfast in fridge was very handy. Beautifully planted around the house.

The location is absolutely beautiful and the history of the inn is so interesting. We had live music in the picturesque courtyard with its fire pit and pretty lights and our servers at each meal plus the guy who delivered the complimentary scones each day were friendly and attentive.

Location amongst the trees very picturesque & peaceful. Hosts extremely helpful /friendly even providing beach chairs ,towels to make use of river beach which was walkable from the cabin. Swimming in river pool possible although river levels low during our visit.Good location for Humbolt Redwoods.

The location is remote and off grid and very peaceful.
