Amazing location, Freddy the owner is such a welcoming and warm person. He gave us so many tips about travelling through sumba and recommended us to join the sunrise trekking on the hills next to the villa. We paid only 250.000 and we got an incredible sunrise! The views were stunning and he loves to share his passion for nature and culture! The villa was in great condition and the breakfast was good. Our highlight was definitely his own weaving art. He has a little shop in the reception area with local pieces. But he mentioned that his profession is being a Weaver and he has higher quality pieces in his house. He invited us to his place and showed us all his work and we were listening to him for 1 hour. The pieces are made with such beautiful patterns ans designs. We bought one, and this is our favourite souvenir of 2 months travelling through Indonesia and Vietnam. If you stay here, make sure to talk to Freddy :)

Facing the seafront, Oro Beach Houses is a bed and breakfast offering a 3-star accommodation in Weetebula. It features a private beach area, garden and private parking. There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay. The bed and breakfast has family rooms. Leaving Oro House felt like saying goodbye to family – I had to wait a month before I could even talk about it without getting emotional. Oro House was my home in Sumba - I had the most amazing time here. During my week-long stay, I watched sunset at their private beach every single day, and even got to see a double rainbow once! They have this gorgeous secluded beach perfect for sunbathing and swimming. To me, this is the most welcoming place in West Sumba. Siska gave me great travel tips while encouraging me to discover my own adventures. Her family and friends made me feel so cared for - I always had delicious food and ice-cold Bintang beers at the home restaurant. They've got tons of Sumba books at reception too (especially super helpful Sumba-info). I missed here already when i on my flight to Bali. Hope to return someday. So grateful to Siska and the whole family. Lydia was a brilliant host, nothing was too much trouble, she, organised motorbikes for us as well as a car and driver for our trip back to the airport via a lovely beach club, also horse riding, advice on what to do and see, and she even spent time teaching my husband to cook some local dishes. Her children were absolutely delightful. The new swimming pool was great and will be amazing once the decking is finished. The rooms were extremely comfortable. If you really want to avoid the tourist crowds and spend some time in an incredible unspoilt location then this will be perfect for you. We would highly recommend getting round on the mopeds as it is the best way to see the absolutely stunning scenery (but be careful of potholes and slippery mud if it rains).
