Second time at Holiday Inn Guildford. I was here in August 2021 with my family, and here again this year with my 3 boys. Our 2 week stay has been superb. The breakfast especially was rich and varied with well prepared options. The restaurant staff were just solid gold. Always smiling and pleasant. Clearly eager to help and in such friendly and welcoming ways. They were especially good with my kids. And I observed how unfailingly courteous they were to guests. The whole team - Gemma, Iwona, Ling, Anna and John - were such terrific hosts. I am so glad my kids and I got to know them over our 2 week stay. The recent face lift to the lobby and restaurant also gives the place real warmth and style. Edit. Just realised that my previous review (in August 2021) had suggested towels on the bathroom floor. Here we are in January 2023, floor towels are provided in the bathroom and changed every single day. Impressive.

The spa is a very nice place to relax, and Guildford has fantastic shopping.

The staff were friendly, the bed was comfortable, at breakfast there was a big variety to choose from, and it was very good, the location is beautiful - in the midst of nature. I enjoyed my stay at the Hog's Back Hotel very much !

Fantastic stay. A really smart hotel/ resort complex. Best fitness centre I’ve seen in a hotel. Very clean and tidy rooms. Got a free upgrade to an apartment. Very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was very good.

A beutiful house, lovely food. The staff are exceptional, its greatest asset are the staff at reception who are absolutely delightful to deal with. They are the first and last impression if this great hotel.

It’s comfort, it’s facilities, the staff are excellent

I wanted to stay in Horsley so for me the location was perfect. I had a regular room rather than a deluxe so I was expecting a purpose built chain experience. The hotel itself was what I thought it would be but the setting is stunning! I was free to wander around and it was gorgeous! I discovered an outdoor gym and a dog and boot washing station which could be useful for those on a walking holiday with their furry friend. Inside, there was a bar which served food and a restaurant which has the same menu as the bar plus a 3 course buffet option. I opted for the buffet which was £22.50 and had a Chinese theme on the day I went. There was a meat, fish and vegan main course and there was a soup as a starter but in addition a fabulous salad bar. The chef was knowledgeable about allergies and gave me a separate main and guided me through the salad bar personally. There was also a gym and pool. The pool was a good size and well maintained. There was a little tuck shop for humans and dogs in the reception area. Within walking distance there is a small parade of local shops/coffee shop/restaurant and there is a lovely historic pub with beer garden opposite the entrance to the hotel grounds. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. The things that made this hotel stand out most were the hotel grounds and the staff. Every single member of staff I spoke to was friendly, helpful and approachable. They were at a level fitting of a luxury hotel which combined with the setting and the pool made my stay seem very luxurious for the price point. I’ll be back!!
