The hotel is newly built but thoughtfully designed in the traditional architectural style, blending modern comfort with local character. Everything is finished to a high standard and impeccably clean. The hotel has its own parking. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. A special thanks to the young gentleman who checked us in—he provided helpful advice on visiting a local winery, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was generous and delicious, offering a great start to the day with plenty of variety. The castle walls on top of the hill are excellent to visit, but the experience is let down slightly by all the cars entering the castle grounds. The old town area is nice for a short visit, but not as extensive and "used" as other similar towns. Berat is know as village/ town of 1000 windows.
Berat is know as village/ town of 1000 windows. There are 2 area of the old town which are on both sides of the river. It worth just wandering the streets of both old towns. The view from the castle also gives a different perspective. A beautiful old town with so much character.
