We spent two wonderful days in this lovely guest house nestled in the Austrian mountains.
The room was beautiful, very clean, and cozy, with an absolutely stunning view of the mountains.
Waking up to that panorama was truly special.
Anita, the host, was incredibly kind and always available for anything we needed.
She made us feel immediately at home.
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with fresh local products.
The homemade bread was simply outstanding.
The atmosphere was peaceful and perfect for relaxing.
We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

We liked everything - a really nice host family, a wonderful location (right from there you can start a few beautiful hikes in the mountains around and do not need your car) and especially the athmosphere of a small village on the hills...

Hotel (gasthof) itself is in excellent position, it is calm place with access to many hiking paths. Cuisine in the hotel was amazing. Additionally, friendly staff, we had feeling as being home.

Frau Ortner is an excellent host, also very helpful in giving good tips. Her place is in an amazing location in the beautiful valley of Lesachtal. The breakfast is just perfect!

The locals are friendly and helpful.
The locals are friendly and helpful. From a culinary perspective this is one of the best places in Austria - the Slow Food movement is at home here and you can get fantastic yet affordable local specialties (we got here in time for the "Knödel Wochen" at the Steineckenalm). The landscape is incredibly beautiful and ideal for hiking, with many levels of tour difficulty. The locals were more accurate than hiking maps in advising which paths are best for ascent/descent (like from the Obergailalm Lake up to the Mittagskofel)! We hope that the Lesachtal region soon recovers from the bark beetle plague - right now it's better to hike above the tree line.
