Amazing staff, perfect breakfast (those waffles were something else!), a spotless pool with just the right water temperature, a great bar, and everything absolutely pristine. we did not know it was a "Singles" hotel but it was fine for my mother and us. People were friendly and staff was lovely and accommodating. Beds were comfortable and views were breathtaking. The forest and field/trail walks were lovely and hiking and swimming were our major pass times as well as visiting with friends. The indoor swimming pool was lovely and the outdoor pond a great plunging pond in September after a hot tub visit. Dinners were exceptional and breakfast is "healthy" with many choices. There is always a vegan/vegetarian option available.

Hallstatt is only 7 min away by car. All in all, a great place to relax and go sightseeing. No doubt that during the winter its even more stunning with ski lift basicly in the back yard. This hotel is like a dream. Room was beautiful with stunning views. Breakfast will never be topped in my LIFE. Lovely pool, outdoor lake and jacuzzi were great fun. Amazing 4 course supper. Very lovely staff, plenty of towels. So close to the Christmas Market, and you can hear the church clock chiming.

Linz is an industrial and admin centre on the (definitely...

Linz is an industrial and admin centre on the (definitely not blue) Danube river . Small airport with (as at July 2025) 2 flights a week from London STN. Pedestrianised town centre with a mix of old and new architecture gives no clue that the pleasant clean town has an active steel works. No special tourist draw but a reasonable base for touring and onward travel, Large Danube cruise ships stop at Linz but most passengers are sent to Salzburg by coach and make minimal contribution to the Linz economy.

I thing 2 days is ok if you stay only in Hallstatt however...

I thing 2 days is ok if you stay only in Hallstatt however you can consider one extra day for Obertraun for 5 Fingers and ice/mammut cave. Hallstatt is a beautiful city however not to much to do around considering the salt mine is clouse. Bout ride is good for amaizing foto of town.

We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to...

We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to Obertraun in order to visit Hallstat. Unfortunately, the transportation wasn't very convenient for us. One of the trains that we had arranged was late and we had to wait two more hours in order to get the last train to Obertraun. We departed from Vienna at 8:00 and we arrived to Obertraun at 15:30! Obertraun was very close to Hallstat. Hallstat is a magical place but next time I would prefer to visit it by car.

This is merely a city for business trips or when you want to visit special events. The city and shopping opportunities are rather limited. We spent a few hours here, travelling through, but we didn't feel that we missed anything when quickly checking out the city.

Nice old town that has nice stores and good restaurants to go. I liked the Christmas decoration in the town center. Bad Ischl is a good place to stay and drive around to some other towns like Bad Ischl, St. Wolfgang, St. Gilgen, Dachstein and Badausee

A more beautiful peaceful vacation could not be imagined. The mountains are breathtaking. The quietness speaks to you, and I left feeling more peaceful than I have in years. We were there in May, and I understand the tourist scene in June and July is a bit busier. There is a lot to do in the village besides gazing at the scenery. Delicious eats, friendly hosts, charming souvenir shops and the ferry that goes up and down the St Wolfgangsee are some of the delights.

Such a wonderful place.

Such a wonderful place. Beautiful buildings and great cafes and restaurants. The Traunsee tram makes public transportation easy. The only downside is the short term parking, so got to look for pricey underground parking or free parking lots which are far away.
