The position at Strobl on Wolfgangsee is gorgeous and it’s worth paying for a lake view room. Generous room size, comfortable bed, lounge area with sofa, lounge chair & coffee table and great bathroom. Excellent breakfast - good choice and the ability to order eggs anyway you like. Beautiful gardens right down to the lake where there are 2 jetties and access for swimming. Lovely saunas - Finnish & Bio, and a steam room. Wellness centre if you want to book a massage. Short stroll to ferries - lovely way to see the area and and visit other towns - Sankt Wolfgang and Sankt Gilgen - both busier than Strobl but access for hiking via cog railway or cable car.

The breakfast was sumptuous, and the staff were all very enthusiastic. They helped handle the check-in in advance and sent Guest Mobility Ticket, which saved us transportation costs from Salzburg. It's very comfortable to enjoy the mountain view outside while sitting on the balcony. The hotel is a five - minute walk from the lake and the bus stop.

    5 stars for the location in the middle of Salzkammergut area, ideal for taking a bike tour around the lakes without having to use the car (e-bike rental place nearby). Beautiful, calm and tranquil green surrounding, orderly garden, spotless clean room, delicious breakfast served on the sonnige Terrasse, etc. But for me, above all the comfort and convenience - it was the human part. The owners and coworkers were not only polite and friendly, but super flexible with all our requests, true professionalism at a master level.     Beautiful location, with a fabulous view from the balcony! Lovely sunbathing and swimming area, with bar and snacks in good weather. Very friendly and helpful staff. Although not high-end fittings, it was full of charm and was a lovely place to be. There was an honesty bar for when the lakeside bar was closed, so you could have a relaxing drink on the balcony. A good continental breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Would definitely recommend and would happily return.

    A more beautiful peaceful vacation could not be imagined. The mountains are breathtaking. The quietness speaks to you, and I left feeling more peaceful than I have in years. We were there in May, and I understand the tourist scene in June and July is a bit busier. There is a lot to do in the village besides gazing at the scenery. Delicious eats, friendly hosts, charming souvenir shops and the ferry that goes up and down the St Wolfgangsee are some of the delights.

    Walk around the Bürglstein is very nice and calming. City itself is much calmer than the other ones (St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang), but still there is everything what would you need, water fun, grocery store, ice cream stand.

    Sankt Gilgen was lovely - picture postcard beautiful with plenty to do to keep us busy (lake and mountains walks, boat rides, trains, cable cars). Visiting in September, we found it very quiet at night with very few restaurants open, particularly on a Monday and Tuesday. Finding somewhere to eat on spec is difficult and we would strongly recommend pre-booking if you want to eat out.

    We stayed in Abersee close to the port (Gschwendt). This area is generally quiet particularly at night as it is sparsely populated, with pastures, farms, and indeed guesthouses. There is a public beach excellent for swimming (with paid access, but included in some accommodation; it is grass, pebbles, wooden walkway and stairs to get to water more comfortably). One can also walk along the lake, cycle, or walk further for hiking in the hills. For shopping, sightseeing, restaurants, one needs to take a short drive to St. Gilgen or Strobl.

    I love this little town.

    I love this little town. It is a great location for exploring other areas, but the town itself is beautiful. We got to see them raise the May Pole and have a bit of a festival with dancing, music, and great food and drinks!

    A perfect holiday location. The village has lots of character, a weekly market, cable car, mountain walks, swimming in very clear lake, and relyable bus service to wider surroundings and beautiful baroque city of Salzburg.

    Lovely old city center with decorated buildings, promenade on a lake shore, travel on a ship on a lake, possibility to sunbath and swim in clear blue water, mountain trails, cable car and old trains to summit.

    Excellent , a walk by the lake and a splendid dinner at Carl-Zone can really make your day. You can enhance your trip by hopping on to any of the boats and visit near by places be it St Gilgen etc , There is boat running between Strobl , St Gilgen and other small villages located by the lake (Wolfgansee) , hope to get the name right
