The room, bathroom and outdoor area are all comfortable and very nicely designed. Catherine and David were great hosts and extremely helpful in providing us with tips for snorkeling and hiking. The location is great, a short walk to the beach and about 20min to forts function (or a very short drive).

Loved Selina, loved the cafe / bar common area, loved the dorm lodges which had a toilet and shower. Comfiest and nicest hostel I've stayed at for a while! A nice treat, great location too with beautiful sunsets and food/ drink/ hike options from Horseshoe Bay, plus regular bus available from right outside the Hostel. Also did candlelight yoga and a morning yoga session which I loved - other activities available too like pool tournaments, games etc. Would recommend staying here!

Writing as a part time wheelchair user. I had informed the staff beforehand of needs and they were quick to respond and accommodate me. In fact, the accessible room had been damaged in a tropical storm so the team made sure I still had a space to stay that met my needs. It was a beautiful spot incredibly clean and spacious. So not the room I intended but some other hotels would have asked me to pay extra or not given me the space. So a free upgrade to make sure I was comfortable and good actually enjoy my stay? Yes please and thank you very much Peppers! Amazing location on the waterfront and lovely pool area and restaurant. Staff were very kind and helpful with recommendations. It is across the road from where Ferry comes in and Buses leave from.

The room itself was clean, comfortable and well-equipped for our stay. The pool was inviting and much enjoyed. The view was spectacular, but why simply look at the ocean when you can cross the street and walk beside it on a clean, beautiful, uncrowded beach where we encountered only sea birds and a few friendly fellow beach walkers? Wow what a great place to stay!

The town has all sorts of amenities that you would need.

The town has all sorts of amenities that you would need. It is central to the island, so getting to the other towns and areas from there is very easy. There is a huge range of types of accommodations you can get for your stay; from high end water front resort to container homes to hostels. Being where the ferry drops you off at, it is also nice to not have to carry your bags around too far!

Magnetic Island is beautiful with bush trails to many beaches and vantage points. The flora is wonderfully diverse with giant banyan trees, tropical plants, vines and gum trees - wild koalas are easy to spot on some of the trails. The vibe is low key and nicely humble and it's very easy to get to via Townsville and a short ferry ride. You don't need a car as the bus runs regularly across the island to all the best places. There are also plenty of options for scooter and jeep hire.

Arcadia is a great place to visit and to stay on Magnetic Island. The main beach, which is part of the Nature reserve, is lovely to walk around and also to see Rock Wallabies in the early evening. Alma Bay is particularly good for young children, with plenty of shade and grassy areas in addition to a small It's only a short walk in the the main centre at Nelly Beach, the Ferry Terminal and a well stocked supermarket and bottle shop.

Picnic Bay is in my opinion, the prettiest Bay on Magnetic Island. With buses running so regularly (50c fares; $1 for the day) you could hop on and travel to many other parts of the Island without any difficulty. The swimming enclosure at Picnic Bay is a popular spot for people to swim and the jetty, a very popular spot for visitors and locals to fish off. There are a number of restaurants as well and a Brewery that is a hit with locals of visitors. The Picnic Bay Hotel is large and has TAB facilities as well. We found the prices at the hotel were quite expensive for drinks and food. We bought a take away meal on leaving and it was large and very yummy.

Magnetic Island is a fantastic location.

Magnetic Island is a fantastic location. Off the mainland and the busy city of Townsville. Great swimming and snorkeling. Various restaurants, pubs and eateries are all casual. Plenty of cars to rent. Lots of adventures, walks and beaches. Go out of stingers season - November to April.

Of all the beautiful bays at Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay...

Of all the beautiful bays at Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay is by far the nicest one. It has great open views of the ocean, a long beach front with beautiful palms and trees providing the necessary shade, and a small but lively little boulevard with a well-assorted local Convenience Store, a few nice beachy shops and a good range of bars and restaurants that offer something for everyone. I specially recommend Barefoot Restaurant and Gallery, which is something you might not expect on a location like this, but they have some beautiful artwork and their food is truly exceptional. All in all, Horseshoe Bay just has that nice chilled island vibe that you're looking for on your vacay.

By taking our car over on the barge we could travel around the island to the different beaches. It has some lovely places to see, some can only be accessed by car. The bus service appeared popular with people to get around the main three bays on the island. Great relaxing holiday destination.

Beautiful location, amazing swimming area sectioned off for safe beach swimming. Great restaurants, cafe and brewery. The pub is great for family lunch and dinners. The Italian Restaurant provides authentic Italian food which you can have bought into the brewery while tasting some of the local beers. The cafe does amazing coffee, breakfast and lunch with great service.

Friendly people, particularly shop assistants, restaurant staff, cab drivers and bus drivers. Saltwater restaurant was excellent, with tables under the stars and efficient staff. The Boardwalk at Peppers was also excellent, the barramundi was delicious. I would recommend a visit to the Museum, which has historical information about the island, also handmade jewellery created by volunteers. The volunteers are also very knowledgeable about the Island's history.

Horseshoe Bay is at the northern end of Magnetic Island.

Horseshoe Bay is at the northern end of Magnetic Island. It’s not as windy as some of the other bays. And it’s a good spot to do walks from, like the Forts Walk. There is a long stretch of beach to walk on and explore. And lots of water activities to enjoy.
