Great experience, perfect location, and outstanding care from the staff. We stayed in the chalet for 5 days, and everything was excellent. The space is well-designed, with plenty of space to get organized and store our luggage. Comforts like a spacious bathroom, large bed, balcony, and hot tub made a big difference in our stay. The transfer service is a real highlight and totally worth it, especially since the village has many options, and the transfer helps explore places that are farther away. On top of all that, the staff is exceptional. Katarina warmly welcomed us — since we were on our honeymoon, she arranged a lovely surprise with champagne and chocolates, which made us feel truly special. Franz was incredibly helpful, giving us great tips about the village and restaurants. When I mentioned how much I enjoy coffee, he even brought us a special batch to brew in the room. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience staying with Peter. He is an exceptional host, a terrific breakfast cook and a really great human being. Everything was perfect, but mostly the staff and the owners, always ready to help and support their clients. Very centrally located but in a smaller street far from the noise. The staff were extremely helpful. We don’t speak Portuguese but they helped via translation apps to make sure we had everything we needed. The two tours they recommended and booked for us were fantastic. The hotel down the road where breakfast is served (and you could have a beer and watch the sunset) had a great view of the river.

Encantes de Nordeste is simply magical! My husband and I spent some of the best days of our lives vacationing here, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth that, after just a few days, it felt like coming home to family. The location is breathtaking—tropical beauty everywhere you look, with lush nature surrounding the pousada. Every day felt like an adventure, as we kept discovering new hidden gems on the property. The eco-lodges are absolutely worth it! Spacious, beautifully designed with a sophisticated yet authentic local touch, spotlessly clean, and equipped with great air conditioning, comfy beds, and plush pillows. Our lodge had a private bath with a stunning view on greenery outdoors, a spacious bathroom with a separate shower, a hammock on our porch, and even a huge flatscreen TV for when we wanted to Netflix and chill. Breakfast was an absolute feast! The coffee was fantastic, and the fresh tapioca with cheese (or anything you’d like!) was made to order by the incredibly friendly kitchen team. But the highlight? The fresh açaí and fruits, literally picked from the trees growing on the pousada’s grounds. Enjoying breakfast with a view of the spacious pool (which has a bar!) was the perfect way to start the day. And let me tell you—the lounge beds are heavenly. As someone with a bad back, I was beyond grateful for their comfort and support. The on-site restaurant, Bambea, is an experience in itself. By day, you dine with a view of Rio Preguiças, and at night, the twinkling lights and live Bossa Nova music create the most romantic atmosphere. Whether it was a cozy dinner for two, a fun night with friends (hello, passion fruit caipirinhas!), or a game night (don’t forget your Uno!), every moment was memorable. I even treated myself to a hot stone massage, which was pure bliss.

From the beginning till the end the staff members were very friendly, approachable, and helpful. The place itself is beautiful and we loved the little garden area as well. The restaurant serves some great and delicious dishes. We have been well looked after and we really enjoyed our stay. We would happily come back any day and we highly recommend this place.

The pousada is amazing just a 10 minute walk to the city center and really close to the Rio Preguiça, where you can swim if you’d like. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of options including fruits, juices, and different types of bread. There’s also a swimming pool, small but very nice and some lovely areas to relax. I highly recommend it.

Would recommend. It is located next to the water, all the restaurants and bars, super close to the main road. It looks exactly like in the pictures and the staff was really helpful. They provided us with recommendations and helped arrange the transport back to Sao Luis for us in time for our flight.

Nice location about 10min walking to the restaurants area and a precious view from the terrase/pool on the river. The staff is nice. The rooms are simple and a bit old but the bed is nice, with ac and a mini fridge. The breakfast was good.

Barreirinhas improved since 2022, however the city is really ugly. High season everything was overpriced. You do get whatever you need, but will pay top dollars for poor quality stuff. Food was ok, everywhere but very expensive. taxis were super priced . And the city is not a walkable city. Dirty and service, for such a touristic area is very poor. However , the Park is so beautiful that is worthy the pain of the city. People are very sweet , and kind, but not properly trained.

We had a great time in Atins and would definitely recommend...

We had a great time in Atins and would definitely recommend it--though next time, I would come in May or June, when there are plenty of pools on the dunes but before the crowds arrive in July. Do be aware that the ONLY way to get to Atins from Barreirinhas is by boat, ATV, or 4x4. All the roads are sand--so I definitely recommend renting an ATV while you are there. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

We stayed 1 night.

We stayed 1 night. Purpose was to see the National Park, Lencois Maranhenses. We were advised to go to Atins or Santo Amaro instead of staying all the time in Barreirinhas as they are nicer and I would second that. It is a good base for tours and transfers to see the park.

Cool place, relaxing atmosphere, friendly people. Muita Paz arranged not only the transfer from Sao Luis airport, but also 4x4 truck tour, horseback ride, quadricycle ride, etc. All the tours are totally worth taking

The tours are all the same.

The tours are all the same. They drive like maniacs on bumpy roads. It is not fun for everyone and especially unnerving and tiring you have already spent half of day trekking, or then to have a very uncomfortable ride is tiresome and infantile. It should not be imposed on all visitors. That’s what are quads for and other extreme forms of transportation on sand. Also no one spoke a word of English. More guides should be trained and companies should offer visitors a choice of joining a group where the guide speaks some English. All of this on the top of a very tiresome bumpy ride from the airport. I feel like my body was shaken to the bones in the last 24 hours. And for what? To experience the serene nature of dunes and lakes the rough driving should not be mandatory but optional.
