I liked everything. The linen was clean and fresh. The room was extremely clean. The staff was helpful, kind, so very professional. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was as good as possible, giving us recommendations on restaurants, places to see, and even gave us a brochure on what to do in the next place we were going to in the next days! We made a mistake on booking the room, but they found a way to accommodate us. Yes, they were great! If you go to Sault Ste Marie and are looking for a safe, clean and happy place, go to Holiday Motel. You won't regret it! And if ever we come back, that's where we'll be staying, for sure!

The hosts are very kind! In the morning offer free very tasty coffee and even told me about the town, offered a free book. I stayed here two times, and on my way back, as a return customer was offered a free upgrade to a Queen bed +jakuzzi room! TV had netflix and youtube on. Easy to find a parking space. And the lake view is fantastic. Took a walk with my dog there 🙌🏻 beautiful!

It was set in a beautiful area, just outside town, and the front lawn had a gorgeous view of the forests around it - what’s not to love? The staff were also so friendly and had some great tips for hidden places to check out around the area of Lake Superior which I loved seeing.

Friend and I visited Sault in mid August.

Friend and I visited Sault in mid August. Just to get away for couple days for some nature and shopping. We stayed at Glenview Cottages on Trans Canada Highway, 10 minutes north of the city. We shopped for groceries at Wal Mart, Staples for some ball point pens. A friend stopped by at an outdoor adventure store for a tent cover. I'm sorry, for not remembering the name of the store. Besides cooking our own meals, I've had a craving for soft tacos at Taco Bell; Macdonald's for a muffin and a coffee. All the shopping and eating we've done on Great Northern Road. Our purpose was to discover local hiking trails. So, don't forget to hike decently maintained trails at Glenview Cottages and Camping.

Wawa was the top of our trip and we were surprised that despite the small population (3000 people), it is a busy town. We loved the Kinniwabi Pines restaurant near by HWY 17 (a must experience, family run, may need a reservation for a larger group), we enjoyed fresh trout and an Bison stake (delicious!). Our neighbours caught a glimpse of the Northern lights (early morning), and told us about the Sandy beach walks and fantastic nearby trails with falls! For us, this gateway to the North, a nice community, offers fresh air, splendid view of the Trans-Canada Highway, and a sense of the vast "Canadian Spirit" all around! You can also venture from there, 200Km to next town : White River, the home town of the "Winnie the Pooh" bear (yes, Winnie was purchased by Lieutenant Harry Colebourn after WWI and donated to the London (British) zoo all the way from Canada, where the writer (A.A. Milne) got inspired to write the children's book).

The picture shown did not accurately represent the room we were given. Our room had carpeting instead of new laminate or wood flooring as shown in the photo. Everything about the room was outdated, which was disappointing based on the price being $177 Canadian. There was a Tim Hortons very close to the hotel, thankfully, because the hotel restaurant doesn’t open until 4:00 and the coffee maker in our room didn’t work properly. There were no other options in town on the day we stayed there. The coffee wouldn’t drain from the basket. The room smelled very stale. We did enjoy sitting outside in the evening, and they had picnic tables and a couple chairs along the lake, but very rustic type stuff.

I recently attended a weeklong "Sheep to Shawl" fiber camp, sponsored by the Elliot Lake Arts Club, and thoroughly enjoyed their fun and informative program, new facilities and classes by the lake. I highly recommend "Blossoms Cafe." The food, service, decor and price were outstanding! I also highly recommend a float plane ride of the area with Glassy Outfitters. The view above Elliot Lake is absolutely breathtaking, and our personable pilot was so skilled, I didn't even notice when we left and landed on the water! In addition, I highly recommend Pizza Hut for carryout, as the staff was very friendly and kind, and the pizza delicious.

Lots of green space in the Sault to bike and hike (many well groomed trails through beautiful forested lands). I'd also recommend a ride on the Miss Marie (tour boat goes through the locks). The area around the Sault was also beautiful, we took a road trip to Searchmont; the maples were in their glory - changing colours amidst rocky ridges and rivers and lakes.

Kinniwabi Pines Restaurant. Not to miss. Excellent food and "upscale" for this part of the world. But you don't have to get dressed up! Young's General Store Kabenung Lake (out 17 beyond Wawa) for kayaking and beauty. Naturally Superior Adventures. Book a trip. Lake Superior Provincial Park: heaven on earth. Camp at Rabbit Blanket.

Travelled with 5 motorcycles terrified they would be damaged or stolen if we had stayed at this place. Contact person was not at location, in the apartment we were directed to go to through owner on booking.com site - Owners have refused to respond or refund. Drug addicts everywhere, later found out this apartment complex is considered the slums of blind river and very dangerous at night.

View from room was nice, but the room was not as pictured.

View from room was nice, but the room was not as pictured. More run down than it looks. Our room had old carpet not hardwood / hardwood looking floors in the main room. We also asked for larger beds and got two tiny double beds too small to sleep together (and we’re both pretty small people). Property was dated and in need of maintenance - looked like some sloppy-ish DIY was attempted to spruce up the bathroom which was better than nothing I suppose, but there were stains on the walls, ceilings, and several cobwebs in the bathroom (more than what should have been overlooked). They painted right over rusty hinges on the doors. Other than that the room was clean. Walls were thin and noisily neighbors kept us awake. I found the bed comfortable enough (though it was squeaky), but my husband did not. The owners seemed friendly but I thought it was strange they asked us to fill out a paper form after we booked online. Thankfully overall the room was clean, and the bed was not terrible and had clean crisp white sheets and bedding and the bathroom was acceptable. Also appreciated the mini fridge in the room. It wasn’t the worst motel I have stayed in and I understand these small motels often have a hard time affording upkeep and upgrading, but the dirty walls in the bathroom and the cobwebs should have been cleaned up at a minimum. I still prefer Hilton & Holiday Inn chains for better consistency in quality and cleanliness but the timing on our road trip worked out to be between Sudbury and Sault St Marie so this looked like the best place overall. Next time I might just drive a bit further to stay in a chain. I certainly wouldn’t make this my destination.

Very clean and beautiful city.

Very clean and beautiful city. They have a very long boardwalk by the lake and you can see the boats going thru the locks. They have train tours and boat cruises that is quite unique and fun. We had dinner at Montana's which was right by the lake. The view was spectacular and the food amazing. The one-way streets were not so great.
