We really enjoyed our stay at San Bosco Inn. Not only did they have a swimming pool but we were able to use the hot springs at their sister hotel, Volcano Lodge. Fabulous breakfast. Lots of birds & butterflies attracted to the gardens :)

This place was absolutely fabulous. It's a very big enclosed ground with lots of trees and plants. Every house - with its spacious rooms and bathrooms - has its own parking spot and its own terrace with stunning view on the volcano. After our hikes we were able to rest at our terrace and be surrounded with lots of birds - especially hummingbirds! The location of the hotel is also great - you can easily get to a lot of restaurants by foot, La Fortuna is a 5 min drive and Arenal National Park is a 20 minute drive. The staff is also extremely friendly, the breakfast was delicious and we really liked the swimming pool as well!

The grounds were kept beautiful with lush vegetation and lots of birds. The hot pools were amazing! The different temperatures of the pools was very relaxing after a long day. Our room was spacious and well equipped with a nice private patio out back looking into a great garden.

It was by far the best hotel we stayed at in Costa Rica. This brand-new place is incredibly cool and stylish. The decor was stunning, and everything was spotless. Having a kitchen in the room made us really happy, and having a private jacuzzi in the garden was amazing. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I absolutely, without a doubt, highly recommend it!

From the moment you first walk into the Tifakara Hotel lounge, you begin to experience the highest quality in customer service offered by this charming, unique hotel, which just happens to be home to hundreds of birds and trees. My friend and I were early for check in; however, Allan, the receptionist during the morning shift, offered to store our bags, prior to welcoming us to use the pool as well as the restaurant. We headed to the pool and shortly after Allan came to tell us our room was ready. We stayed in the balcony room with views of the volcano and beautiful greenery from where we were able to watch all species of birds fly by us as if no one was actually there. Amazing! In the morning, as we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by Dylan, the most charming and service oriented waiter I have encountered in a long time. The lady behind the counter greeted us and kindly introduced us to the choices we could make regarding fruit juice, coffee and delicious pastry. This hotel is for couples, families, people that are looking for a bird watching heaven that offers a night tour through a magical garden filled with frogs and a few snakes. Why not? Moreover, if you are looking to hit the Fortuna Waterfall early, this is the place to choose. Yes, beautiful infrastructure to say the least; nonetheless, to me the finest customer service there is. Enjoy your stay fellow travelers. Before I forget, last but not least; the girl that cleaned our room found clothes I had carelessly left behind. She immediately packed it for me in a small bag and made sure she gave it to me before I left the hotel. Sweet? Yes!

The views were fantastic, Arenal volcano is intimidating ( as it is very close to the resort) but mesmerising. The bird life is abundant and the Coatis walk around ignoring people just doing their own things (which is as it should be) The breakfast was fantastic. The road to the resort is a dirt road and could be rough. there are no lights at night ,hence be careful when venturing out at night.However if you have a good car and consider the road conditions it can be easily done with an SUV or a constant 4WD. I will recommend a big car but not necessarily 4x4. As the resort is very isolated the only place to have dinner is the restaurant which was expensive. However with a good car you can venture into the small local towns an have a multitude of choices.( alway ask the staff about eating choices you will get good information from them ).Hence that is one of the reasons I will recommend an SUV. As the resort is so vast you could stay there without going anywhere else and honestly say you know Cost Rica. The waterfall within the property was breathtaking, you get to it via a beautiful walk via the forest. There are 2 suspending bridges, lots of well marked walks and the births are. amazing.

The property is absolutely exceptional. We were very well taken care of as soon as we opened the door of the car. We were greeted by David who immediately took our bags with a smile and we were offered a drink and a cold towel while checking in. The staff are absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was special as it was our honeymoon. The facilities are amazing, you could spend a whole day at the pool and jacuzzi’s alone. The food in the restaurant is excellent also. We saw toucans and other animals during our stay there too. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It is very safe and well worth the money.

The on-site hot springs are beautiful. The included 30 min spa treatments (one per stay pp) were a nice touch. The activity (one per stay pp) was brilliant. The bird life around the property and the trail walk is beautiful. Lunch was good for veggies and view from the restaurant to the volcano is amazing. Pool bar man is a diamond!

I made a non-refundable booking which i had to change last minute because of last minute changes to my travel schedule and the hotel accommodated my request. I was greeted by friendly staff and a nice tropical juice. The hotel facilities are super clean and spacious, placed amongst beautiful flowers and trees - a small paradise

We loved the Volcano view, the private cabin and friendly staff. The buffet breakfast was excellent and dinners were also very good. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained with lots of hummingbirds, butterflies, lizards, orchids and tropical plants. I liked the varying temperatures of the hot pools.

The hotel is charming, right in front of the volcano which makes the view incredible. The location is excellent, only about 10 minutes or less by car to the center. The staff was always very friendly, giving us advice. The breakfast is very complete, it is buffet style. We really loved this hotel.

Mirador Silencio trails were wonderful for wildlife viewing...

Mirador Silencio trails were wonderful for wildlife viewing (monkeys and toucans) with a hike to the 1968 lava flow line and views of nearby lakes and the volcano. Ecotermales hot springs was excellent with beautiful grounds and pools and great lunch and bar drinks. It had a quiet relaxing vibe with very few children/families. Our guided sloth tour near town was great.

Our trip was mostly rejuvenation, health and to access the volcano and hot springs. We went to Arenal park and hiked the trail to the Volcano. We saw a Capibara but most other wildlife is best viewed in the early morning. There were a lot of orchids in bloom along the trails. Going to EcoTermales Hotspring was the highlight. It's a gorgeous naturally constructed spa with layered pools, waterfalls all built with stacked granite rockery, bridges and pathways connect the pools, and there's plenty of seating, an open bar that serves the best mixed drinks. The restaurant served fresh healthy assortment of seafood and meats with veggie dishes with dessert at Lunch. The water was fed from the natural hotspring, which was circulated , refreshed constantly with fresh volcanic water. Attention to the holistic elements of nature were throughout. Staff and Service were top notch.

Touristy, and can get crowded.

Touristy, and can get crowded. If you're looking for off the beaten path, this is not it. Offer is huge and feels like it has lost character. Traffic can be hectic. If you're looking for an authentic Costa Rican experience you're better off elsewhere.

It is worth spending time in Fortuna.

It is worth spending time in Fortuna. Unfortunately it was raining, and I got influenza. Fortunately I got to do the hot springs, the hanging bridges and Rio Celeste before I started to feel really sick. I enjoyed the tours fully and shout out to the guides for their caring, and uplifting guidance. Fortuna is easy to get around and everything is within reach, including laundry, local travel agencies, and bus service for budget travelers, with route San Jose or Alejuela ( La Radial Terminal) - Cuidad Quesada - La Fortuna.
