This is probably the best hotel on the island of Santo Antao. The whole thing makes you feel like you're in a castle. The owner is very helpful, she takes care of every detail of your stay. Although my room wasn't perfect I got a better room for the same price - for which I am very grateful. From the hotel you have an ideal point for mountain hiking to any place. Breakfasts are very tasty, everyone will find something for themselves. Erick was very helpful and always smiling during meals. This is an amazing place and an amazing island. Obrigado!

Staying at Black Mamba was such a great choice! I was traveling with my mother and sister and we absolutely had the best time there. The owner and staff are so welcoming and warm, they made us feel right at home! Also, the food is great and the location is also a plus. It is close to Vale do Paul and very easy catch the colectivos to other parts of the island. We definitely recommend staying here.

They keep it fun and engaging, so every day feels like an adventure if you want it to be! And let me rave about the food—easily the best I’ve had on the island. Not only is there a huge selection, but everything is also incredibly healthy and tasty. The chefs put a lot of thought into crafting meals that are as nutritious as they are delicious, and you can tell they use high-quality, fresh ingredients. From local Cape Verdean dishes to international options, every meal was a delight. All in all, Robinson Cape Verde combines the best of everything—an ideal location, excellent facilities, and staff that truly make the experience unforgettable. Maury is such a caring man and a great host. He has welcomed us, offered all the information we needed to find a car rental company. He has offered all the possible information we needed for our short stay in Sal Rei (events, bars with live music, maps of the island etc). We have appreciated very much Maury as a person as well, he chatted with us regarding the Cape Verdean culture and shared useful information for our stay. The breakfast was delicious. We have enjoyed very much our stay at this accommodation and we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

I also had a great reference from them to go see the turtles. The name Basic is excellent because we have the basics and much more, clean, airy room, good and varied breakfast every day. we stayed near the pier which was idyllic. Santa Maria is not commercialized no high rise hotels etc. it is very laid back and chilled. there are plenty of bars and restaurants though but this is not a party place if that's what you are wanting its for relaxing. the locals are so nice and just want to please you. Bear in mind if you stay in one of the big hotels they are not near the beach i would opt of an apartment as most of these are on the sea front

The carnival time is one of the best times to enjoy Mindelo. Very colourful, lots of excitement and great atmosphere. You should try the local food, cachupa and the kamoka ice cream. Sao Pedro, close to the airport is a great place to see the turtles. The fish museum is adjacent to the African market where you can get souvenirs.

There are many places to visit at this side of the island.

There are many places to visit at this side of the island. Xoxo, Cova crater, the walk between Cruzinha and Ponta do Sol, Paul valley, Synagoga are all fantastic. If you don't fear heights and like to hike up or down, then you find breathtaking views and hidden gems wherever you go. Hiking routes are fairly signaled, though we lost the way sometimes - but every time we found something extra, a nice village, terraces, locals working in the gardens or on the fields. The town is not big, but have some nice restaurants and bars to eat and drink. Easy to find taxi or aluguer, though not many are running on Sundays.

Lovely small town by the coast close to mountain trails. We stayed 5 nights but would have happily stayed another couple of nights. Good restaurants in town including an authentic Italian place run by an Italian and serving home-made pasta with tables on his terrace. He has a wonderful model town, that he has made himself, on display for you to look at while waiting to order. Casa Maracuja served good local cuisine and we also enjoyed the food at Paladar where they serve cachupa. We had a rental car, but there were also alughers available for transport to Porto Novo, the ferry port.

Beautiful view of the sunset from tidal pools where you can swim protected from the waves. My host arranged a reservation at a private restaurant in someone's home, with live music. It was delicious and a great experience. The town is a little dirty. I didn't stay long enough to really know the town, I'm sure it has its gems.

It's wonderful brand new well equipped and modern apartment. For me the location was fantastic. It was meters from the beach and a supermarket and a great local restaurant. I always talked to town to meet the shuttles and drivers for hikes and the ferry. There is a great balcony - I also cooked and used the washing machine - living room was really wide in comparison to majority of apartment rentals I had. I really loved it.

Perfect base to explore the whole island of Sal. Very close to the airport. Especially nice experience for me was Pedra de Lume. There are nice and helpful people everywhere. I will certainly come back. Please note that this is not a beach or resort type of holiday like in Santa Maria.

Beirona/ Murdeira is a beautiful place, definitely worth choosing if you want to relax on the beach/ by the pool without crowds of people around you. There’s just one shop here ( it has an ATM which is a huge advantage), but it’s well stocked. If you’re not a fan of big resorts, but want a laid back holiday, be sure to visit.

The hotel itself is clean, well-maintained, and designed for comfort. My room was spacious, with a lovely balcony and a well-stocked minibar. Housekeeping did a great job keeping everything tidy and fresh. What really stood out was the staff – everyone from reception to the restaurant team was warm, friendly, and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure guests were comfortable and having a good time. The food options were impressive, especially for an all-inclusive resort. The buffet had a great variety with fresh, flavorful dishes, and the à la carte restaurants were a nice change of pace. I particularly enjoyed the Italian and the steakhouse. During the day, there were plenty of activities (shoutout to the fun and energetic entertainment team!), but if you just want to unwind, the two pools and beach loungers offer plenty of space to relax. If I had to note anything, I’d say the buffet can get a bit repetitive after several days, and outdoor seating in the evenings could be a bit more sheltered from the wind. But those are small things in an otherwise excellent stay. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Riu Cabo Verde for anyone looking for a relaxing, sun-filled getaway with great service and a welcoming vibe. I’d definitely return!
