I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Ciudad de Ávila! The location is fantastic, and one of the best parts is the amazing restaurant right next door. It’s perfect for both dinner and breakfast, offering delicious meals and a cozy atmosphere. The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with friendly staff who made me feel very welcome. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this hotel is an excellent choice. I’ll definitely stay here again!

Salamanca is one of my favourite Spanish cities.

Salamanca is one of my favourite Spanish cities. I visit often and have friends here. It's beautiful and historic with a gorgeous Plaza Mayor and generally enough to keep you busy a few days, or a week with some side trips (Segovia and Avila are an easy train ride and you can drive to spectacular mountain valleys like the Valle del Ambroz and the Valle del Jerte). It's a university city and is young, vibrant and very safe, with an absolute ton of bars and eateries. It has a well established tourism infrastructure without being particularly touristy (it's mostly language schools, since they speak a very pure Spanish). It's also an easy 1.5hr train trip from Madrid.

Leon is a tad touristy but still retains some of Europes most beautiful Archtecture not least of which is the Cathedral of course - built with a population supposedly around 5000 leaves one in awe at what was built … and where the money came from . The modern side will entertain the shopaholics ( you know who you are !) but the cultural bit can be done in a few days with ease . Restaurants cater for all .

We really liked Burgos and wished we had booked more nights to explore the city more. There are lots of churches, the cathedral, and the monastery to explore. And there is a great selection of bars and restaurants to dine in. We will definitely return.!

Valladolid is a nice city with several tourist attractions...

Valladolid is a nice city with several tourist attractions and several museums. There’s a high speed train from Madrid to Valladolid. You can get around most of the city by foot. There’s a large park (Parque Campo Grande) with several bird species. There were several places to get Churros and Porras. Unfortunately, during my visit, part of the Cathedral was closed for renovation.

Segovia is a historic city with a beautiful Cathedral (Catedral de Segovia) and Castle (Alcázar de Segovia) and a Roman aqueduct. You can also go for a hike in the surrounding area and take photographs of the castle. Note: If you are interested in night photography, the cathedral, castle and aqueduct are illuminated only on the weekends.

The hotel was in a good location although not easy to find and there wasn’t free parking on the site. Not far from the restaurants and near the river with a nice walk. We only stayed overnight enroute on our journey. We have stayed at nh hotels before and find them very comfortable and clean.

I wanted to visit Soria because of the nearby archeological site of Numancia. I had read El Cerco de Numancia by Cervantes as a student and remembered the site. The Museo Numantino in Soria has fascinating artifacts from the archeological site and other locations in the area. Wonderful Roman glass, pottery, jewelry and sculptures. In addition, Soria is a lovely medieval small city well-worth a visit away from more crowded tourist locations such as Barcelona and San Sebastian...
