Perfect location, very spacious and airy rooms with beautiful traditional ceilings and a lovely inner courtyard. Also it was very quiet. They don’t do breakfast but recommend traditional restaurants at the square down the road or a coffee in the cafe on the ground floor.

Our family absolutely fell in love with Granada!

Our family absolutely fell in love with Granada! It’s one of those places that has a little bit of everything — history, beauty, great food, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe that made us feel right at home. Of course, the highlight of our trip was visiting the Alhambra. Even the kids were amazed — the palace feels like something out of a storybook, with its intricate carvings, peaceful courtyards, and stunning views over the city. We took our time wandering through the gardens of the Generalife, and it was just breathtaking. Tip for families: go early in the morning to avoid the crowds! Granada itself is so much fun to explore on foot. We loved strolling through the Albaicín, getting lost in the narrow cobblestone streets, and stopping for tapas in little local bars. The people were friendly everywhere we went, and the food was delicious — we all agreed that churros with chocolate became our new favorite breakfast at Viacolon. What really stood out was how family-friendly the city felt. There’s so much to see and do, but it never felt stressful. Whether it was exploring the old neighborhoods, relaxing in a plaza with ice cream, or watching the sunset over the Alhambra from Mirador de San Nicolás, every moment felt special. And if it happens to be during Halloween, it's even better. We left Granada with full hearts and so many great memories. It’s a city that captures your imagination — and one we’ll definitely come back to someday.

Love the traditional feel of Almunecar. Lovely walks around the town and all along the coast in either direction. Lovely quiet beaches to the east side past the Mediterranean park. Good bus links to Granada, Malaga and Nerja.&

Such a great little city that feels very safe and enjoyable for travellers. We loved the local feel of Motril, unlike other places along the coast that we visited. The locals were friendly and there was a great selection of restaurants and bars as well as a nice walk to the beach with good access for pedestrians. I wouldn’t recommend bringing a car as the streets are little but a scooter or moped would be ideal. You must try Pizzeria Vespa and Zarcillo Restaurant was such a special place to go for dinner too. We also loved a little late night walk around the cactus garden which is such a cute place. Motril, you were excellent!

The coffee was good.

The coffee was good. The staff were friendly but could not speak much English. I was expecting a buffet style breakfast but only toast with a topping was available. The hotel was clean but needed more air circulation as it felt stuffy. Would have been nice to be able to see out of the window as the roller shutters did not work. I would go back but only for a one night stay. Lots of local people go including lots of truckers, Many truckers use it as a truck stop. The evening meals were good but nothing fancy as you would expect from somewhere that truckers use.

As per my apartment comment, the cohetes (extremely loud banger fireworks) are horrendous for the unsuspecting tourist. Make you jump out your skin, they are so loud & they start and stop all evening until late. Pretty much ruins the evening - you can’t have a conversation & you keep getting a fright every time they sporadically start up. My understanding is they were originally for festivals , which would be fine, but now apparently, any excuse and off they go. Perhaps the town does not want or need tourists, in which case fine happy with that approach to limit their stay, I would not stay more than one night.

A beautiful part of Spain.

A beautiful part of Spain. A great beach with a wide selection of restaurants, 'Bahia' helped us to host an special anniversary meal, the Il Treno ice-cream parlour right opposite the clean beach and the marvelous tapas bar nearby are worth a visit. The maintown, set back a way from the beachfront is the castle with it's incredible views, and the hillside houses in the steep narrow winding streets are amazing but exhausting to walk around. Fortunately there are several bars to stop for a drink on the way. The town has all the shops you might need and the beautiful town of Caleta is close enough to walk to: I would love to see the procession that is proudly displayed in the photographs throughout their town. We were delighted by the smiling local Spaniards who made us welcome and helped us wherever we went. Most spoke little or no English but with just a few Spanish words we managed just fine; communication is no big problem among friends. Viva Espana
