One of the best places we have been in our tour of the castles. It is very near the town (10 - 15 minutes by foot) Mateo was waiting for us at our arrival. He was great. He showed us our room and also he called for a reservation at the restaurant in town. He opened for us the game room, so we spent sometime playing pool. Breakfast was delicious. It was a very complete buffet with many kinds of cheese, charcuterie, juices, jams, bread and coffee. The room was very comfortable for the three of us. The room temperature was perfect. You can park the car there for free and walk everywhere around. There were as many outlets as we needed at the bed sides. Everyone was very nice and helpful. We will definitely go back and be part of the experience of this great hotel. Thank you for everything

We stayed at the newly opened Mercure Hôtel in Ax-les-Thermes for a weekend getaway and overall had a lovely experience. The location is ideal — just a 5-minute walk from the train station and perfectly situated for hiking (randonnées) in the surrounding mountains. The hotel’s facilities are great. We especially appreciated the wellness area — we tried the spa (hammam, sauna, and jacuzzi), as well as the indoor pool. It was the perfect way to relax after a long day of hiking. Our room was spotless and modern, and the bed was incredibly comfortable — probably one of the best we've ever slept on! The bathroom was fully equipped with everything we needed. That said, there are still a few areas that need improvement. The breakfast (brunch) was quite limited. We understand the hotel had just opened the week before, so we hope the selection will expand with time. However, basic items like a toaster (grill-pain) would have been appreciated. We also had dinner at the Château restaurant owned by the hotel. While the setting was beautiful and very romantic, the food didn’t quite meet expectations. My boyfriend had the trout with a strong rouille sauce and fries, and I had lamb with fregola. The flavors were average, and the service was quite slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t full. Again, we assume this might be due to the staff still being in training. All in all, it’s a beautiful place to stay, and we’re sure it will only improve with time. We’d gladly return — especially for the spa, pool, and fresh mountain air!

My reason for visiting Lourdes was both for pilgrimage and leisure. In both respects I was not disappointed. I visited the Grotto in the morning and evening, and during the day, found time to climb Pic du Jer, walk around Lac de Lourdes and visit Tarbes. I am drawn here on an annual basis.

The cathedral is a must see. Next to it is the beautiful Berbie Palace housing the Toulouse- Lautrec Museum which was superb. Better to eat a cheap casoulet in the market than go to a mediochre restaurant where only a chainsaw will cut through your meat.

This town is a gem - the real France and away from the tourist beat. Its cathedral is unique and exceptionally old. A little French is a help here. Very good and inexpensive restaurants. Take the Little tour train for a great orientation.

Lovely town set in stunning countryside.

Lovely town set in stunning countryside. The riverside location is very attractive, there are lots of restaurants and great walks and cycles in the countryside. We’ve stayed at pleasant hotels and campsite in the town. Nearby are the Chaos de Montpellier le Vieux and the Gorge de la Dourbie, both worth a visit, not to mention the Millau Viaduct, with its small museum and viewing point. Good for a few nights stopover to break a long journey.

Wonderful, lively city.

Wonderful, lively city. But here's a tip: dont't arrive on Monday evening as there is hardly a restaurant open and, if you're in self catering, you'll have little time to get to a supermarket before it closes. I would recommend the restaurrant J'go in Place Victor Hugo (unless you're a vegetarian). The square (which surrounds the market) and the streets immediately off it are full of great places to eat - local/traditional, Asian etc.
