A great hotel for our quick introduction to the lovely town of Saint Jean de Luz. Aside from its ideal location, the rooms are contemporary, sound proofed, and well furnished. Most of all, we appreciated the terrific staff who went out of their way to help us with directions, restaurants, bus transportation -- even rounding up a plate and silverware for a take-home treat to enjoy in the room. Fantastic location looking out over 'La Grande Plage' and within easy walking distance of the 'Fisherman's Port' which had some great restaurants. Close to main shopping and fish market where you can try a good selection of oysters. We booked the residence parking which was convenient but only really suitable for small cars. To be honest, the airport was 8 minutes from residence so in future we'd just use a taxi. Lovely walks all along beach in both directions. We will definitely be returning. The Victoria Residence staff were welcoming and helpful, especially Laura, who was very kind.

Fabulous location, just in front of the beach and in the city center, 10-15 minutes by taxi from the BIQ airport. The breakfast was excellent, both sweet (croissant, pain au chocolate, pancakes, and a lot more) and salty stuff (bacon, eggs, French cheese, smoked salmon, etc), with high-quality yogurt in different flavors and fresh fruit. Large room with new furniture. All was very clean and comfortable.

The cleanliness of the streets, the lively spirit of the residents, architecture from French colonial days were some of the unforgettable aspects. In off season, some restaurants are not open or on hiatus, but there were enough good quality establishments. Walking tours are easy, if you are ready for stairs and inclines here and there.

Bayonne is a lovely town in the middle of the French Basque area. The old town is totally walkable with lots of shops, bars, chocolate stores, sidewalk cafes, and great restaturants. One can just stroll around and decide which restaurant to enjoy.

Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very pleasant little town on the South-west coast of France. Its beach is nicely sheltered from the wild Bay of Biscay, making it safe and attractive. We stayed in a central hotel with easy access to some lovely bars and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. It's an easy drive into the countryside; we climbed a mountain called Larrun, part of the Pyrenees, then easily back to St Jean de Luz for a swim and out for dinner! Also some good local shops.

Not much. Its listed as 4 star.

Not much. Its listed as 4 star. The property needs a complete renovation. Plus, with today's technology and the WiFi is non existant. On my first night I was not given WiFi. They were correct. Its less than 1 bar and you cannot stream. I would not stay again

Lovely, long beach.

Lovely, long beach. Quieter than St Jean de Luz, but still with a good choice of small restaurants, often specialising in fish/seafood. Good public transport links, not expensive, to be able to visit other nearby villages and towns of the Basque Country Lovely walk up over the headland, or instead -a little stroll along the promenade. Visited Hondaribbia in Spain by a very short boat trip that leaves from Hendaye port. Beautiful little village-nice pintxos in the restaurants ! And good view from up by the castle. The historic little train de la Rhune up the mountainside not to be missed-but book ahead-it gets full. The chateau d’Abbadia is interesting.

This town has a great beach, an active fishing port, a proper hypermarket (Carrefour) and loads of street restaurants. It's pleasant to walk around and feels safe at night. Unfortunately the restaurants are all at tourist prices and all feature local cuisine with pretty much zero acceptance that the world may have some vegetarians who might want to eat something other than a salad. Asian restaurants are usually a safe fallback in such situations, but Ciboure doesn't have any (not even take-aways!), which is just weird. There is a pizza take-away, but it's well away from the centre.

Conveniently located for the city center and within walking...

Conveniently located for the city center and within walking distance from buses to Biarritz And St Jean de Luz. It feels as in the Basque country and the town has a pleasant central square with restaurants and a church. Accommodation was located not far from it, but going up and down a hill, which adds some time to the journey otherwise pleasant. There is a bakery, a grocery, souvenir shops and even a fashion store, and for more ample shopping supermarkets are just on the outskirts of town.

Great city centre and beaches but the Rocher de Verges was the highlight. Not to be missed. The surprise was the Musee Asiatique - a delightful surprise. Very manageable and has some rare Asian sculptures.
