One of the best holiday accommodation we have experienced. Lovely staff, great surroundings, combination of privacy and service when needed/asked for. New, modern, great technology and beds inside, beautiful old vibe environment. Dordogne is extremely charming, I do think car is necessary. People in this region were sweet to us, much more pleasant than in other parts of France.

We loved everything! We chose the Zen room which was wonderfully large with all the furnishings you might need. There was a desk, a bench, loads of pillows and cushions. and I loved the low armchairs, the perfect height for bending over to tie your shoes. The huge, round bathroom was really special, I loved the idea of it being in the tower. There was so much care and thought to the comfort of guests, every little thing was available. The grounds are so peaceful, it’s a real escape. But still close enough to everywhere for taking in the sights. The best of all was Laurie, the manager. She was always available, made us feel superbly pampered, she worked so hard to ensure we didn’t want for anything. The email she sent me on arrival was invaluable with information and tips on the area - what to see, where to eat, and so on. We loved the Dordogne and if we come back, we’d love to stay here again!

A wonderful and very special place. Claude and Mario looked after us beautifully. Delicious food, beautifully cooked, and a peaceful and delightful setting. This is a home from home. Don't expect a 5 star hotel but rather a wonderful couple who welcome you and make sure you are happy and comfortable and extremely well fed and looked after. The bungalows are great, with plenty of space around, in calm surroundings, and with great views. The whole site is not very big, which adds to the good atmosphere. All personnel members were very friendly and helpful. The common area, with a.o. laundromats, and a great swimming pool, table tennis, and a free pool billiards table and table football table was great. My son loved it so much, we spend one full day there. They also sell good cocktails, tapas and paella for reasonable prices, which adds a lot to the comfort. The site is a nice downwards stroll away of medieval Sarlat, though it's a pretty steep climb back. But you can also go by car, and park below at a free parking on the road below to avoid the climb back. The site is also a 5 minute drive away of a big Carrefour shopping center. And Sarlat is also very near the Dordogne and Vezere valley, so it's a great place to stay.

This was a lovely place to stay for our family of 12. The pool was a bonus for our mid teen kids and there was plenty of space for all of us over 2 cottages. It was about a 8-10 minute drive to the old part of Sarlat and was a great base to explore the other attractions of the area. This is such a beautiful part of France. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a fabulous few days away. Would definitely recommend.

Sarlat is a wonderful place. Everyone we met were friendly.

Sarlat is a wonderful place. Everyone we met were friendly. The restaurants were excellent. My only complaint are the dogs! The French are lousy dog owners. The dogs are allowed to relieve themselves anywhere, and, the owners make no effort to clean it up. Walking down the main shopping street in the old town can be an adventure.

A pleasant small hotel in a beautiful location. in this historic village on the Dordogne river. Paid parking is opposite and you can walk up to the Chateau. The rooms are average size but comfortable and with views over the viillage towards the river. There is a bar with ourside seating overlooking the river. This touristy village is a great base for a holiday in the Dordogne area of France. It's the world centre of prehistory, complete with the excellent National Museum of Prehistory and loads of caves and rock shelters nearby. The incredible cave paintings at Lascaux and the medieval town of Sarlat (amazing market on Saturday mornings) are a short drive away. There are loads of great restaurants in the village, and also a weekly evening food market on Fridays in the summer, with fabulous food stalls (top-quality take away dinner!). We didn't have a car during our holiday - we travelled there and back to Les Eyzies by train, and made full use of the local bus services 337 and 339 which run a very cheap summer service for tourists to Sarlat and Lascaux. Canoeing on the River Vezere is a must - we used Canoe 24, a 5-minute walk from our hotel.

We ate at the Pizzeria des Templiers Restaurant and it was excellent. Lovely cooling mist in their nice courtyard. Very friendly staff and delicious pizzas with a thin crispy crust. Tasty desserts too. We also ate at the Esplanade which is a lovely place to sit on a warm summers evening on the terrace. Very helpful staff for choosing the meal and wine to go with it. Also my friend had a problem with certain foods and it was no problem to make changes. They were so helpful. we also ate at the Asian restaurant just outside of Domme. They have just moved there. The meal was delicious and all home made. Not bought in frozen. Domme is great for shopping and all the shop keepers were super friendly.

Sarlat-la-Caneda has been a great choice as the base of my stay in Dordogne. It is central and well equipped offering various tours in the region and access to superb restaurants in town and in its vicinity, like La Belle Etoile and Le Presidial to name two. I took three half-day tours to explore the villages of Dordogne, the Rocamadour, and the Lascaux caves with expert guides. I enjoyed all of them to the full. This has been one of my best solo trips!
