The room was absolutely stunning, on a wonderful location. The host (Shannon) was also super friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home immediately. I would love to stay here again, very good value for money as well! You do need a car or motorcycle to get around to restaurants ideally though!

Absolutely loved everything about this grand old hotel. Certainly the grandeur is a little faded and the hotel is showing its age in places, but that is to be expected in a building approaching its 200th birthday! It only adds to the atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, the bed was one of the best we have ever slept in and the full-on sea view from our window was amazing. Breakfast was excellent and staff very efficient. We had afternoon tea one day and the excellent carvery on Sunday, and can highly recommend both.

We absolutely loved The Cooden Beach. The weather outside was frightful, but the fire inside delightful. It was warm, cozy and very welcoming. The staff were so lovely and helpful. We mostly ate inside the hotel having visited family in the area during the day. The food was delicious. Everything we had was exceptional. The staff couldn't do enough. It was lovely talking to Ben S. Andre was fabulous at dinner. Robert at breakfast. And the Reception and Housekeeping team super. Thank you to all of them for making our stay perfect.

Loved the front view over the beachfront. I found you by chance by internet search so often one takes a chance a property is as good as displayed but the Langham exceeded my expectations. You were not a Fawlty Towers but just as much fun and so comfortable. Thanks for a lovely stay and the chance to discover beautiful Eastbourne. I will return.

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.

This was coupled with a trip to the De La Warr Pavilion and Hastings out of season. St Leonards has some interesting new cafes & independent shops popping up along Kings Rd near the station - possibly not enough for a sole destination in its own right but the location was handy & you can actually park in parts of St Leonards.
