Fantastic luxury and an amazing scenic location. We stayed in the new extension with a balcony which was fantastic to sit out on and share a bottle of fizz. The staff were the best thing about the stay though. In particular Iain in the lobby cocktail bar and Raymond in the great Scot’s bar were delightful to chat to and both had an encyclopaedic knowledge of cocktails and whiskies respectfully. We were made to feel so welcome by everyone we spoke to on the the staff and it was the unforgettable touch to a luxury stay.

a few of us stayed here for two night’s for Easter. the location of the hotel was fabulous. close to Helensburgh, Inveraray and of course for those who like to hike the cobbler. the hotel is dog friendly and will be charged £15 per night. they had entertainment on in the evening and the breakfast was lovely. the staff were all very friendly and attentive especially the night manager. the rooms are basic but great value for money.

I had a great stay at Balquhidder Braes. We rented a log cabin with a hot tub, and it exceeded our expectations. The hot tub was perfect - spacious and secluded, with the water at just the right temperature. The log cabin itself was very cozy, and the living room had plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking. Definetly recommended!

Beautiful area, it would have been better if it hadn’t rained most of the week. Our last day was bright and sunny so we saw it at its best. We had a couple of great meals at the Queen of the Loch in Balloch, lovely carvery. There is a lovely gift shop, Loch Lomond gift house, run by a very helpful lady who gave us a map of the area and showed us places to go. The boat tour of the Loch was very interesting and informative.

I took a fishing rod and on the first night had bbq mackerel on the banks of Loch lomand as its very close. The hills are walking distance from the hotel so on the second day we walked up Ben ime. The views are spectacular if you have not been to the west of Scotland you willl be impressed and the location is so close to Glasgow, difficult to believe a large city is so close.

Helensburgh is a nice little town on the Firth of Clyde, so it has a pretty waterfront and a seaside feel, although it is on a river. It is ideal in many ways, as the trains go frequently to Glasgow and even to Edinburgh if you are so inclined. But it is also very near Loch Lomond, only 20 minutes drive and also ideally placed to drive around the peninsulas and lochs of Argyll and Bute. We managed a day trip to Bute to see Mount Stuart which was great, although a long drive, but worth it. There are some very good restaurants in Helensburgh, we liked La Barca Spanish restaurant and also the Vintage Inn pub The Commodore. The pavements are flat and well maintained, great for pushing wheelchairs(like us) or buggies.
