I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel after spending a string of nights in places less comfortable. My room faced the street, not the canal, but it was surprisingly quiet so do not let the fact it is next to a busy road put you off; the hotel is well insulated from sound. My bed was very comfortable and the whole room has the simplicity, comfort, and cleanliness of a well managed hotel. I have slept at Marriotts and Hiltons less comfortable. The staff was also very friendly. I really appreciated the much needed rest here. Also to note, there is a bus stop near by (not sure why my phone kept telling me to walk to the train station).

very quiet rooms, spotless fully equipped incl hairdryer, iron, kitchen pots/ Delph etc. plenty of parking spaces in a very secure car park ( metal shutters no one could get in without a keycard even on foot). you can leave the car all day £10 per day . bed was extremely comfortable, nice dark curtains so no waking at 4am because of light issues in the summer. in a quiet but very central area so no traffic noise. couldn’t hear noise from other guests ( I was top floor in the corner). grab and go breakfast which was a nice surprise . amazing staff . patryck ( apologies if I spelled it wrong) was so helpful

Really impressed with how vibrant the city was and it was easy to walk everywhere - plenty of sign post with directions. Lots of independent shops and cafes. It is worth having a walk along the canal. Lots of parks and open spaces. The castle was well worth a visit. We went to the Tourist Information centre and the guide there was most helpful- and amazingly it is open every day including Sundays! We stayed for 4 nights and our trip included a visit to the theatre and a football match. We could easily have stayed longer.

Worksop is a Gateway to explore North Notts, South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. It has an abundance of beautiful parks, Historic Houses and Golf courses on its doorstep that you are spoiled for choice. Sheffield, Doncaster, Gainsborough, Chesterfield Mansfield and Nottingham are all within easy reach. Edwinstowe and Sherwood Forest, which is probably Nottinghamshire biggest tourist attraction is only six miles away and is also where Center Parcs (Sherwood) is located. There are numerous eating establishments which give value for money. So, it's your choice.

We know Mansfield very well and returned for a look around,...

We know Mansfield very well and returned for a look around, although the town centre is not much different to any other area, there are some beautiful and interesting places to see close by. We visited The Carrs at Warsop, Clumber Park, Carr Bank Park in Mansfield, the Dukeries Garden Centre etc. The snow curtailed some of the activities we had had planned, as we had intended to visit some old haunts within Sherwood Forest itself. Sadly Mansfield Museum is a bit lacking in information, but there is some of the history of Mansfield industrial past, which was very interesting. If you have never been go with the intention of visiting the surrounding area you would not be disappointed.

Eastwood is so down to earth .a good range of shops and interesting things to do .also if you're a drinker it's good for that .. It's got a lovely old fashioned but modern feeling to it . Everyone so friendly.DH Lawrence would be proud that the historical nature of the town has been preserved.its like stepping back in time . It would also be good for ghost hunters and that kind of activity .

Attractive town, historic buildings, River Trent - all lovely features; and Sherwood Forest and Rufford Park in easy reach. Newark Civil War Centre is very interesting and there are many old buildings in the town. Independent shops and Sarurday market. Sourhwell Minster is not far away and cities - Lincoln (similarly much historical interest) and Nottingham - are each about 20 miles drive. Good pubs and restaurants too. Koinonia (Kerala food) is a favourite.

We had a lovely stay at Grange House. It was perfect location for an event the next day at Holme Pierre Pont. We were able to take our little dog and he was made to feel very welcome. Kevin recommended a local pub for an evening meal in the village of Lowdham called the Swan. The food and reception were excellent. We would certainly stay here again.

Ollerton is a lovely quiet village, there was an area to play with a football which was handy with kids. The walks nearby on Sherwood heath were great too. A pub/meals within walking distance. It was a little bit sad to see a couple of the pubs and cafe closed down in the village, much like everywhere else though, a sign of the times.
