Help me! How can I describe our wonderful stay at the Falcon Hotel in the charming and beautiful Bridgnorth. The hotel is centrally located in the small town, on the east bank of the River Severn, surrounded by historic and picturesque architecture and fresh air galore. The hotel has free parking for the car, welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful staff and serves a lovely, typical English breakfast. The "stable" where the whole family slept was spacious, clean and charming. Thank you for a memorable stay at your venerable hotel!

I was in Telford for an event at the conference center.

I was in Telford for an event at the conference center. The center and surrounding shopping areas are not "in town" proper but are a little world of their own. Shopping runs the gamut from everyday items to higher-end products and there are a wide range of eateries. The roads are wide and the area is very good for pedestrians/cyclists.

Beautiful historic town, good indoor market, lots of places to eat (especially the Yak and Yeti Nepalese restaurant for an amazing curry) and loads of charming old pubs (favourite was the Henry Tudor, ancient wood beamed pub with great beer, cozy booths, good food and a fire). Good base for hiking the nearby Shropshire hills and visiting smaller towns and villages. Could have done a week exploring Shropshire with Shrewsbury as a base. Will be back.

Back to the future.

Back to the future. So many historic and traditional features of this town. It has a centre, a market place with stalls weekly. Plenty of eateries. A castle with good information. Traditional shops. A brewery, open to drink. All within an easy walk, although some inclines to walk up/down. Friendly, welcoming shop/cafe keepers

The town has lots of history and many interesting, old buildings. Not too difficult to get around considering the topology, the river and its age. It's a great size for exploring on foot once you're there. We enjoyed a Sunday lunch at the Old Castle Inn. It's many, many years since I'd been to Bridgnorth so it was great to revisit the Cliff Railway, the Castle Gardens and the Town Hall. Parking is cheaper in Low Town so I'd recommend leaving your car there and using the Cliff Railway.

The Iron Bridge is truly magnificent and now to see it returned to it's original paint colour is marvellous. Be sure to view it at night too, when it is illuminated and makes a fabulous subject for a photo or painting. All of the museums in the area are well worth a visit and with it only costing £3 more to visit them all, rather than just one, it makes it very affordable, particularly for a whole family. Blists Hill Victorian Village is excellent and has developed and improved since my last visit over 10 years ago. Enginuity is recommended, with lots of very interesting and fun "hands on" interactive exhibits for children (and adults!) to enjoy. Finally, a guided tour of the Jackfield Tile Museum by a friendly and knowledgeable guide set the scene for the rest of the visit around the museum. I didn't realise that tiles could be so interesting and full of history - excellent. A trip on the Severn Valley Railway is a must, whether you are a rail enthusiast or not. Beautiful scenery, superbly restored stations and the Engine House Museum and cafe are part of experience. It is like travelling back in time. Much Wenlock is a small but beautiful, historic village with some fabulous old buildings, nice little local shops and cafes and a local museum. For fans of sport, it is amazing to think that the "modern" Olympic Games re-started here some years ago!

Bewdley is a charming Georgian town with good facilities and well worth exploring. There are lovely walks along the River Severn and many more that lead out of the town. And nearby is the unique expanse of ancient woodlands - the Wyre Forest.

A nice market?

A nice market? town with plenty of places to eat and some smaller shops selling many different things. Easy to get to and from motorway as is the train station. Close but not too close to Telford and Wolverhampton so situated perfectly. RAF museum is a 10 minute train ride - cuts out paying for car parking too, Wolverhampton isn't much farther and so can easily get to The Black Country Museum, (which one of our days we went to), Dudley Castle & Zoo plus of course Birmingham itself, way more appealing than driving there!

We had a lovely weekend visiting university daughter. Stayed at The Swan Inn on Lower Bar. Loved the short stroll to the high street and shopping. Very friendly locals. Lots more to do than we had time for. Had Sunday lunch at The Lamb Inn at Edgmond - highly recommended. The architecture of the buildings along the high street was lovely.
