The rooms are modern, clean & we'll stocked for bathroom goods, also great tea & coffee making facilities. This Pub/Hotel is right up there with the best that I've stayed in whilst on my travels around the UK & Ireland. I'll definitely be checking back in the next time I'm down that way. The food in the Bar/Restaurant was exceptional too...... It's a full 10/10 for me 👌👏👏

RussiaIf you want to be treated like royalty and get the best value for your money, come to the White Horse. It was my husband's birthday, but I never hoped that staying in a hotel could make this day so special.
Needless to say that the hotel itself is magnificent, the room was fantastic, very beautiful and comfortable etc.
But it's the staff's work and the management's choices that make this place stand out.
At the pub's restaurant we were served delightful and adventurous (and very moderately priced) 100% vegan food (vegan
English pie!!!) coupled with two free glasses of Prosecco for the occasion (they kindly replaced them with drinks of our choice since we don't drink), which made our evening.
The room was full of charm, had a lot of treats for the evening tea and a hand-written card, and in general the hotel kept pleasantly surprising us at every corner.
The full English breakfast was also adapted for our vegan needs.
I'm looking forward to coming back and giving my parents-in-law a gift stay as well, because after our visit I can be sure to recommend this place to the most special people and be sure they will have the time of their lives here.
Thank you for making my husband and me so happy on his special day!

SwitzerlandI had booked here at last minute because of a family emergency and i arrived very early, and had very much lack of sleep, a lady called Nicky/Nichola was amazing and helped me get a room earlier, of which i am grateful for, she really helped through a very bad start.
I actually used to live and even work here many years back and this place holds nice memories for me.
So again i just want to say thank you all for being so nice and helping me out.

I had already contacted them to say that there was this possibility but it was not a problem and they advised me that the key would be in the door of my booked room .much appreciated after a long journey.

Ric and Peta went to every effort to make us comfortable during our stay, be it their clear instructions to finding the room, personalised breakfast orders, lovely morning chats and even a lift to where we needed to go on our final rainy morning.
Minnie the dog is a delightful addition to the home. It's so peaceful to hear the water mill gently running in the background and you open the curtains each morning to the total wonderland views of the River Mole and Box Hill. The bed was extremely comfortable and the house so inviting and well cared for.

Dorking is a lovely town situated in beautiful countryside. The public transport is good and there are plenty of tourist attractions nearby to enjoy. It is a good central location. The availability of good restaurants is outstanding.

Godalming is a gorgeous market town.
It's set in the heart of Surrey with lovely countryside and close to many lovely locations, e.g. RHS Wisley, Windsor and many more. All relatively within 1 to 2 hrs.

Haslemere and surrounds is a lovely area.
There are many small shops, eateries, a few charity shops, and a couple of supermarkets within walking distance from the Harper's, and the people are friendly.
Also handy to train (directly across the road), for exploring further afield.
A recommendation would be to also take the train to Portsmouth and enjoy a hovercraft ride across the solent to Ryde, and explore the Isle of White by opentop buses.
As mentioned in my review of Harper's, it cost GBP92 return for 2 people (train and hovercraft combined). Opentop and other buses payable separately on the island.
In previous years (2018) we also went to the hovercraft museum (only open Saturdays as far as I recall).
Another place worthwhile visiting, particularly if on a budget, is the maritime museum at Portsmouth, as there is a lot to see at no cost.
The Swan Inn in Haslemere (pictured) is also a good and fairly priced place to dine.

Accommodation was within an easy walk of Hindhead and the Devils punch bowl which is a must visit. Not much else there thou. Grayshott is within walking distance and has a nice pub called Fox and Pelican, we had a Sunday roast there and it was one of the best!

Chiddingfold is an extremely pretty village with a lovely church on the green.There is a very popular cafe serving coffee and lovely looking cakes close to the hotel.There is also a good looking butchers shop behind the Crown hotel.

The little shop opposite the Porsche garage in Ewhurst is a great find. We had dinner at the Parrot and would thoroughly recommend - we were a party of 7 adults and 5 children and the staff were very kind and patient, plus the food was excellent.

We travelled there purely to meet up with Family who live in the area. Surrey is still a beautiful rural County in many parts. Driving off the Motorways through pretty leafy lanes enjoying the Architecture of its Villages is always a pleasure.

we had stayed at the hotel previously and enjoyed it so decided to return to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The only grips was that the window view I paid for was limited and to make the most of it we need to move furniture and the window wouldn’t stay open. It was a very hot day but much cooler night and if we could’ve opened the window we would’ve had a much better night sleep. We were provided with a fan in the room that was far too noisy and made a little difference to the ambient temperature. Small but significant observations.

Godalming is a lovely little town, fairly flat and interesting to walk around.
It is a good base to other areas too. We went to the Watts Gallery and Chapel, it was the prime reason for our visit and we weren’t disappointed. It is also close to Guildford with really good London links.
