Everything - it was the best hotel we’ve stayed in in a while. The room was beautiful, so clean and cosy. The bed was so comfortable and the room was welcoming with lovely touches. Although we didn’t have a huge room, there was more than enough room and the bathroom was big in comparison with a large shower and spacious area. The staff were really helpful and friendly and let us leave our bags in left luggage prior to use checking in and after us checking out which was so helpful. We had previously booked into another hotel which turned out to be not very nice and we had to check out of due to its poor facilities, so to stay here instead was just what we needed!

The hotel was in an extraordinary location, quite central to the Lanes and most places of interest within Brighton yet still being very peaceful and solemn during the later hours of the day. Staff was nice and understanding towards requests and helpful during the check in and check out process. Great connection to public transportation as well as only a short brisk walk away from the central railway station of the city. Equipped with a nice bar that serves a great variety of drinks and food throughout the whole day. Lobby has a lot of comfortable seating and leisure options like a pool table and a myriad of couches. Would definitely recommend a stay at The Old Ship Hotel.

While the interior appears a little dated and tired when you first enter, the furnishing is actually very tasteful and makes you feel at home fairly quickly. It is somewhat the nature of places in Eastbourne, given they do tend to cater to an older demographic from what I can see. Room had a good view of the sea. Cooked breakfast in morning was high quality. Staff were all lovely, from reception desk to bar staff to waiters at breakfast. Definitely a good place to stay in Eastbourne, not too far from the main coastal strip.

A Quality hotel overall with an appealing and welcoming restaurant and bar. Professional staff. The sea view bedrooms are comfortable, of a high standard with attention to detail and cleanliness. The presentation and edibility of the requested cooked breakfast order to my room was fantastic with the sea view in the morning. It's a pleasure to stay at this hotel. I appreciate the efforts of all the hidden staff that the guests don't see!

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.
