The location is so central to Port Ellen and the ferry terminal. The staff were friendly and polite, and all my emails prior to and during our stay were answered promptly. Our room was upgraded when they saw we were staying for several nights, which was unexpected but very much appreciated. The cafe right next door was very handy for drinks and snacks - the cakes were delicious! Other food offerings in town were within a 5-min walk. Above all, the bay views and gorgeous hills all around gave us beautiful memories of our stay!

The property was beautifully presented and our cabin was very cosy with lovely decor. The staff were a delight. Welcoming, friendly and the service was outstanding. Special thanks go to Clara who gave us amazing service and the chef who prepared the most delicious meals and was so accommodating to our food allergies and requirements. Beautiful castle stay on a huge estate close to the beach. We were transported back in time while we stayed in the tower apartment of the castle with access to the rooftop overlooking the fields of baby lambs and the ocean. Beds were super comfortable and the view from the bathtub just makes you want to linger longer.

Portree has a few nice bars, with friendly staff and is a pretty town, easy to cover on foot. The evening roast meal we had was tasty at the Tongadale hotel, but food elsewhere we saw served, looked lovely too. It's a great base to explore the scenic Isle of Skye and the road to it, is a great scenic drive too. It's a fab place.

A trip here needs time to enjoy the environment around and at the hotel. It is not very near a large town but a village is not far away. But that also makes it special. Make sure to get there during daylight as the roads leading to the hotel are not highways. The food was delicious and well proportioned. We wanted to stay there for longer.
