On our last day in Crete, we drove from Falasarna to Chania for our flight home the next day. I looked for a good hotel on Booking… the options near Nea Chora beach didn’t convince me, but I found an excellent offer in town, about 1 km from the beach, with great ratings and beautiful photos. And I can honestly say, I was not wrong. Chania, like any place in Crete, is a mix of old and new buildings, some renovated, some abandoned. Selected Suites, however, is a real oasis: a beautiful, well-designed building with spacious, modern rooms, each equipped with a private sauna and all the necessary amenities, including a kettle and coffee/tea. The room has a balcony overlooking the pool. The bed was excellent – I slept very well on the Ecomat mattress. There are also supermarkets very close by. Breakfast was served at the scheduled time and it was very good. As for the famous Abdel… what more can I say? He is the perfect example of the saying “A good person blesses the place.” From the moment we arrived until we left, he was incredibly helpful. I rarely meet people so warm, kind, and funny. I even joked with him that a Romanian met him in Crete, halfway between our countries. The world definitely needs more people like him. Everything was truly wonderful. I won’t use big words, but I’ll end with a small joke, imagining a conversation between Abdel and a new guest: – “Sir, in this hotel you will feel just like at home.” – “I really hope not… I came here to rest!” All the best from Romania!

From check-in to check-out, our experience at the Avra Imperial Hotel was absolutely amazing. We stayed here for only three nights, but we enjoyed every moment. Our initial booking was a Deluxe room with a shared pool, but during check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a Deluxe suite with a private pool. Our room was excellent, featuring two bathrooms, an amazing private pool, a coffee maker, a fully stocked mini bar, and a comfortable bed. One of the highlights of our stay was the buffet breakfast and lunch. The variety of meals offered was impressive, ranging from different kinds of seafood and meat to fresh fruits, salads, and a wide selection of desserts. We believe everyone will find something to suit their taste here. The hotel also boasts three different restaurants, and one night we decided to dine at the Mediterranean restaurant. The service was outstanding, and the dinner was delicious. We also enjoyed spending time in the common swimming pool area, which was not only beautiful but also well-maintained. The overall service quality at the hotel was excellent. All the employees were service-oriented, polite, and always willing to provide recommendations and cater to our interests as guests. We highly recommend this hotel to everyone, and we sincerely hope to have the opportunity to visit Avra Imperial Hotel again in the near future.

Everything was great!! We really enjoyed our holiday here, this hotel is an absolute gem! The staff was really friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious and versatile- every morning they put different traditional food both sweet and salty, and no matter what time you arrived to eat everything was always refilled. We had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant as well, the quality of the food was superb, so don’t miss it to trying it out.The beach was beautiful, calm and comfortable, perfect for a relaxing vacation! Location is well connected with Chania, the local bus line is really close to the hotel, less than 5 min walk. Rooms were cleaned every day deeply, and the bed was also very comfortable. Absolutely worth it!! We will definitely return here! :)

Maria was delivering a Customer Service experience and Nota went beyond expectations. I met Nico on the last day and he also was professional. Everyone was nice and caring. Also the owner, who is very keen to know people and share his knowldege. The room was beautiful and comfy. The balcony was incredible. Incredible view. 6 am morning view is amazing and night view while having dinner too!

Great location. Close to everything, 10 to 15 minute stroll to the old town. Only a couple of minutes to the harbour and great restaurants. Mini and super market close by too. The staff were so friendly and helpful. It was spotlessly clean. Nice pool. We had to leave for the airport at 4.45am and the hotel provided us with breakfast to take with us.

My stay at Samaria Hotel was wonderful. The staff was exceptionally friendly and kind. The breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were very clean. The old town is worth visiting especially during low season, when there is more space and tourists are not jostling for restaurant tables and selfie spots. There are several good restaurants in the old Venetian port, look for places where locals are eating.

For those who want a quiet get-away and yet close shopping, Kissamos is hard to beat. Close to the port for Balos-Gramvousa excursions and secluded for a wonderful relaxed time with your loved one. Gramvousa Restaurant is a must, a short drive to a memorable dining experience. Loved snorkeling and fish sightings around rocky areas. Pictures cannot capture the panoramic breath-taking setting.

From Souda, the bus is ~10 minutes to Chania for 1.60€ only. No need for rental car nor searching for parking -- just take bus. Use rental car for pleasure scenic routes into mountains especially Milo's Restaurant. But only during sunlight, not at night!! The trip there is well worthwhile for the food & service, the trip itself is adventurous, scenic & breathtaking because of height.

In this village truly feel like stepping back in time. People were friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more delightful. It’s a place where time seems to slow down, allowing you to appreciate the simple pleasures and sea is fantastic. I highly recommend a visit if you ever get the chance!

The beach is amazing, one of the most beautiful we've ever visited. Water is turquoise and sand is truly pink at the water's edge. Loved long walks, shore swims and the sand was amazing. Next to the beach is a conservation area that is really lovely and I enjoyed the walk! Walk across the relatively shallow water to the island to the right of the main beach. Get there early especially on weekends else all the lounge chairs will be taken! Do NOT park at the first parking lot as you enter town, the rates are MUCH higher than the $5 lot that comes next!

Lovely little village with very friendly people working in...

Lovely little village with very friendly people working in the shops and restaurants. Petra is an amazing family-run restaurant with delicious local specialities run by extremely kind people. We went there on this first night and didn't look elsewhere, kept going back and tried as many Greek specialities as we could.

Good beach with beds and shades.

Good beach with beds and shades. Lovely clear water, great place to swim. Nice tavernas. Great backdrop of the white mountains and the castle when you are in the water. Not too many people in October but can imagine it would be crowded in high season. Surrounding area is dry rocky and barren. Come for the beach and Imbros gorge but not for a scenic walk.

All beaches were clean and tidy.

All beaches were clean and tidy. Enjoyed by the locals, often staying past sundown. Lots of tavernas to enjoy. Short walk to 2 supermarkets if needed, well stocked. Bought cheap loungers from supermarket, which saved a huge amount on sunbeds, as we were there for three weeks!

Chania is wonderful.

Chania is wonderful. I have difficulties to decide which part of Crete is my favourite because every place has it's own special value. Chania is beautiful, you can see the White Mountains from there, the Venetian harbour is unique, the people are so nice, the history can be seen everywhere. I just love Chania and I love Crete.
