We loved everything this time. It was our second stay in a week here and this time we were given another room. This room had separate toilet and shower which we liked. The staff was the best that we met in Greece and we experienced the Cretan hospitality through them. Especially the receptionists, Marilena and Nicole, also the kitchen staff with whom we had most of the interactions. The support staff were all superb as well, always smiling, although we had limited interaction with them. I had forgotten some important documents and they kept it securely for me and emailed me about it. Then the breakfast was awesome and we still miss it :D. A short walk to city bus stop and mini market. Would highly recommend staying here.

The lovely receptionists! You were all so helpful and nice. Everyone wore country badges with the languages they spoke and the (main?) receptionist wore about 7 of them. They were all very knowledgeable and were able to help us with any problem. Also, a big thank you to the sweet cleaning lady!

Perfect place to visit. Place are in safe place with view to the sea. Rooms are very clean and it is cleaned everyday. There are coffee machine, breakfast/fruit table with some Greek meeting surprise. We stayed here for a week and everyrhing was 10/10, strongly recommend this place!

We had a beautiful spacious room. Newly renovated. The rooms were made up every day. We had an amazing view of the ocean. The staff was exceptional. From the moment we checked in, everyone cared for us, from the bar staff, to management assuring they greet every resort guest everyday, to the spa staff and an extraordinary animation team. The animation team kept guests entertained with a multitude of activities and sports organized every day, the kids club with different themes and would participate in the evening shows. The food was delicious and offered a lot of variety. Very fresh ingredients and something for everyone to like. We will definitely be coming back and recommend this resort to couples, families and friends.

I stayed only one night at Aquila Atlantis Hotel but I really enjoy it. Very clean room, comfy bed, balcony with a great view over the harbor. The location of the hotel is amazing, in the city center, within walking distance to the the harbor, old town, Central Bus Station and shops. The Archeological Museum is right behind the hotel. Nice pool area especially the one on the top of the building with a view to the Koules Fortress, but I didn't stay long enough to use it.

I was looking forward to the stay. However it didn't turn out well. Since we left, however, the hotel menagement has been in contact with us and has been more than generous in making up for our bad experience. They have made changes to their working practices, so the situation we had regarding a school staying there, won't happen again.

The property is awesome but you get that from the pictures. It’s the staff that struck me. Kind, cheerful, helpful and very personalised service, despite the fact that it was the last couple of days in the season. Honestly, I struggle to remember a better stay anywhere.

Beautiful, safe town with many local attractions, beautiful historic churches and Venetian port to explore, Central town bustling with cafes, shops and people walking up and down enjoying the sights and sounds of Heraklion. Difficult to judge because we came early in the season when there was a cold wind blowing and not all the places were open. However, there didn't seem to be many places to eat [not a problem for us as there was one excellent place, though would be a problem peak season] . There were a number of apparently abandoned and ill-maintained buildings, which made the place appear less attractive.

It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

Matala is a colorful, beautiful, and lively little town with a great atmosphere. It is perfect for beach days and a good starting point for day trips to nearby museums and archaeological sites. There is a huge selection of good restaurants. It is a good idea to arrive by car if you want to go on lots of trips and be independent. However, there are also bus connections, e.g. to Heraklion.

Malia is a great place for food, beaches and a good location...

Malia is a great place for food, beaches and a good location to explore some of the surrounding areas. The old town provides amazing Cretan restaurants, pretty much all good, and some, like the Avli, Getonia, Sokaki, and Brassierie are excellent. Book a table if there in the busy season. There are local palace ruins which are well worth a visit and easy to get to on the happy train, which is also an experience on its own and does various trips up to the hills as well around town and locally. If there for while definitely book some trips out on a boat, as the sea is just deliciously clean and refreshing, and if feeling adventurous take a boat to Spinalonga and have a wander among the old leper colony. If you can get up in the hills, a visit to Lasithi Plato and make sure you stop off at the restaurant Taksiarhos - where all the food is home made by Joanna, the wife of Taksiarhos who owns this place - it is a complete treat to meet both of them as have a truly authentic Cretan meal and experience. And once the cave is back open (hopefully in 2026) visit Zeus' birth place just a little further up the hill. But of course, the weather is just fab here so do enjoy the sun be it on a beach or by a pool!

Stalis is perfect for all ages and families.

Stalis is perfect for all ages and families. If you want partying then Malia is far enough down the road to go to and it doesn't overspill to Stalis. We ate in a different restaurant each night of our 7 night stay. It has something for everyone and great choices of food. We will return next year for sure. It has everything :)

The city is clean (no litter !!) and the food a and drink is excellent Culturally - this is superb - if ancient history and tall tales of greek mythology are of interest - the museums are well laid out and tourist groups "directed" One significant and pleasant item is that if you are an EU resident and 65 plus you get reduced entry fees into the national museums and attractions ( ID needed)

I came here for special purpose, to watch basketball U20...

I came here for special purpose, to watch basketball U20 European Championship. For that reason i was traveling by bus to Duo Aorakia and University Sports Center. Don't have so much time to explore the city. When free, enjoy Amoudara beach.

Ease of access to tavernas and beach.

Ease of access to tavernas and beach. Shops offering a much larger choice than expected. Plenty of sunbeds and beach seating. Very friendly taverna staff offering good food. Other places to visit within a short drive. Easy drive from Heraklion. Overall a very relaxed place to stay with everyth8ng needed available.
