Not only is she super friendly and helpful and knowledgeable she really goes out of her way to make your trip the most it can be. All the staff were lovely and polite and housekeeping went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The room was spacious and clean and the plunge pool was the perfect remedy for the heat. We will definitely be returning to this property as it is in a perfect location. Yes you don’t get the sunset view but to be honest that was a blessing. Fira is a great town full of varied shops and fantastic places to eat. It can be expensive so plan a little extra money for food though! There are plenty of things to do an see in the town and the public transport to other areas of the island are quite frequent and cheap. Oia is stunning, especially at sunset, but in September it felt overrun with cruise ship crowds and influencers. We loved our simple apartment with its incredible views, starry nights, and the local cats and donkeys. Food and wine are excellent but expensive, and swimming isn’t easy without hiring a car or scooter. On arrival it is confusing - hotel is built on upper slopes of caldera, so it has different levels. On the plus side as soon as you leave the hotel you are on the famous Fira/Oia walk - turn right for Fira. You are on the highest part of the caldera so initially it is downhill, also you are close to Skaros rock which is worth visiting for the views and has a church partially hidden on the seaward side at a slightly lower elevation. Lovely village but getting very busy. Restaurants were excellent and staff in them very polite and attentive. The small village streets were rustic and lined with friendly shop keepers. A relaxed and friendly inviting people. Hill top views are simply amazing and make fantastic photos. The only issue is when the cruise ships arrive. Streets become over run by time poor travellers, checking their watches and posing for pictures along the narrow pathways leading from the town back to our appartments. Despite being after peak season it was crowded, noisy, traffic jams quite frequent and pricey. We returned after 20 years to discover that it’s not a place for vacation any more. Glad I booked Imerovigli over Oia or Fira. It was quieter, more affordable, has amazing views and walking distance to great restaurants. Akrotiri is a beautiful town. I definitely recommend visiting the Akrotiri archaeological site, but the entrance fee of 20 euros is honestly way too expensive. Best location in Santorini you can get just in the the heart right in between Thira and Imerovigli - 10-15mins walk in both directions. Beautiful and relaxing town with everything you could ask for and still without the noise from clubs until late night like in Thira!
