We really enjoyed paddling through the chanal with our SUP to some of the more secluded small beaches. Bogdan is a fabulous host, cheerful, allways available and very helpful. His property is very well equipped (even two refrigerators), clean and with a nice sheltered terrace in the back (you can comfortably sit there all day even at high temperatures, sun or rain). Due to its setup (3 floors), it stays quite cool in the lower floors and with the AC you can also easily keep the top floor cooled. The 6 of us (2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 small kids) had more than enough space. There is no shop in this small town, but there are plenty of shops and a farmers market in 15 minutes driving distance. (The power plant didn't bother us at all.) We loved our room with sea view which was spacious and with plenty of storage room. Beach and 3 pools are right below the hotel, reachable by a lift. Hotel offers beach towels and there's a possibility to order replacemsnts at a small fee. Breakfast offer is amazing, fresh and there is something for everyone. It was never too crowded. Spa, gym and indoor pools are free of charge for hotel guests. There are offers for massages, manicure, pedicure and other treatments but we didn't try it. Free parking on 3 levels is offered outside and there were always enough spaces for everyone. In addition there is a parking garage which can be used with a fee. An interesting old city with a lot to see and enjoy. Bars to suit everyone's taste Historic buildings such as the castle and the Theatre which has very cheap seats compared to the UK. For example a Puccini opera stall seats for the equivalent of £20 each. The market situated in beautiful old buildings with a good quality fresh food. If you are flying from Rijeka airport the bus to get there is very confusing. Despite what they say you cannot book online. Of the 3 bus stations in the city none of them sell tickets for the airport bus.....although they will direct you to each other. The airport bus leaves from Jelacicev Trg (square) and takes preferably cash : E15 each or will take card at a push. We found Senj to be a great place to stay. It was perfect for driving to other activities and sites like the Fortress, beaches and Plitvice Park. Although there is not much to Senj old town, it was very nice to explore and enjoy the plaza and restaurants. It was a great place to visit with plenty of activities to keep you active such as walks and diving (Squatina Diving Centre just round the corner), or there was the beach where you could just spend the week relaxing depending on your preferences.
