Everything was excellent! The location of the hotel is very good in relation to the cave bath. The hotel facilities are very nice, modern and everywhere was clean. We had a nice big room with a beautiful view to the mountains. There was good internet connection. The spa facilities were excellent we really enjoyed everything, I personally liked the salt-room. We stayed there half board. The food was excellent, with a great choice of various hot and cold dishes, lots of fruits, cakes, ice-cream and various hot and cold drinks to follow. This was without a doubt the best accommodation on our road trip trough Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The lovely quiet village of Hercegkút is a hidden under the radar gem in the Tokaj wine region, in the East of Hungary. To see and visit the 'Hobbit' style wine cellars there was a unique experience we preferred to the unfortunately now commercialised Valley of the Beautiful Women in Eger, which was like Hercegkút back in the 80s. We especially loved the boutique hotel feel of Hotel Kőporos, its location, the large terraces and phantastic views our rooms had, the aircon, the breakfast, the pool, in short EVERYTHING! It was not the cheapest accommodation of our trip but the price was reasonable for what we got.

Excellent facilities in a unbeatable location at the center of Miskolc, the check-in and check-out process was very easy and the access to the rooms is totally independent from the restaurant lobby which is definitely a plus. I stayed in the Deluxe Double Room and my partner loved it, the room felt comfortable and private. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Arany Apartman Miskolc and I'd definitely stay here again in my next trip to the city. Very recommended.

The location is excellent. The area is amazing surrounded by forest, view to the lake. Nice and peaceful. The food was very delicious in the restaurant and quite cheap. There was wide selection breakfast. The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially the lady with blond hair served our dinner. If I remember well, her name was Erzsébet.

From there we could walk around, visit Lillafüred, Szeleta park, Miskolc, and on the way there Szalajka-völgy, includind the train for the kids and the surroundings of Bükki national park - which we didn't do fully but plan to do next time. Also thermal bath are close but with kids not in great shape wasn't the best idea to go into the thermal bath (next time). We were only 3 days, at 'slow pace' with the kids but I recommend 4-5 days at least for a better experience.

The Tokaj area is a lovely place to visit with plenty to do, but I think you really need a car to get the most out of it. At the time of visiting (Sept 2025) the main street was a construction site, but I'm sure it'll be nice once it's all completed.

We loved Tokaj! It is a charming little town.

We loved Tokaj! It is a charming little town. We were grateful to find the information centre as we didn't know the area. We thoroughly enjoyed tasting the delightful wines. The whole region is very picturesque, with rolling hills and vineyards. We went for a short drive to Tarsal to see the statue of he Blessing of Christ. A little further on we saw the quaint St Therese on top of another hill. We had dinner both nights at our hotel where the food was fabulous! I particularly loved the famous local wine Tokaj Aszu! It was great to get out into the countryside away from the big city and taste the local wines and local produce. A highlight of our trip.

Mad is the perfect destination for wine tasting at small, family wineries. It has a great appearance, having been refurbished recently, but keeping the old-world feeling. You can easily walk everywhere. The history of Mad is important, and many historical buildings have been preserved, and are open for visitors. The main road from Miskolc has been widened and repaved, so driving there is easy and much safer than before. It is quiet, safe, and inviting.

We went to Miskolc to see the thermal caves and the castle.

We went to Miskolc to see the thermal caves and the castle. The castle and the caves was closed. Lillafured was nice though. Had a bad experience on the V1 train/tram though. We travelled as a family of 4 from South Africa. We purchased Hungary Travel Passes upfront to make it easy to travel. It is also affordable for a 30 day pass. We were under the impression that we could use the Hungary Pass on all urban transport within Hungary. It certainly worked well in Budapest. We arrived at about 12h30 in Miskolc and immediately boarded the V1 train/tram to Lillafured. We only spent 2 nights in Miskolc. At about 13h20 an inspector came around on the V1 tram/train and asked for our tickets. We showed him our Hungary Passes. He was very agro and intimidating and treated us like criminals. He could only say fine and police in English. We immediately had to pay 24000 ft as a fine. We would gladly have paid the correct ticket had we known. A young man stepped closed who assited as an interpreter. The inspector did not want to listen to any reason. We did not know that we had to buy another ticket and besides all notices concerning public transport in Miskolc is in Hungarian. My kids were quite traumatised by the event since they never received a fine in their life. We just feel that the situation could have been handled diferently and a bit more civilised. There should be more assistance for tourists in this regard. I will not go to Miskolc again. Bad experience
