I recommend the balinese massage - it was amazing. The restaurant had the best friendly staff and meals as well. We loved the breakfast and we tried a lot of other meals and all of them were tasty - both indonesian and western type meals. The hotel area was very clean. I cannot find anything to improve.

Literally everything. Loved the fact that everything was pink, smelled amazing and was clean. Spa, breakfast and bar area all on same premises and there was a fire show and DJ every night bringing the vibes. Absolutely loved the cottage-style accommodation, especially the two chairs outside, perfect for relaxing with a good book. The air conditioning was super strong, keeping the room cool and comfy. The bathroom design was a real standout, featuring an artistic pond concept where you can even feed the fish! The swimming pool is small but cozy, ideal for a refreshing dip. Being right on the beachfront and at a sunset point, the views were breathtaking - an amazing spot to watch the sun go down. The resort also offers free bicycles, which made it easy and fun to explore the area. Everything was neat, clean, and felt brand new. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Can’t wait to come back!

Indonesia's Laid-back Lombok

A great alternative to busy Bali is lazy Lombok, a more authentic representation for tourists who wish to explore one of Indonesia’s more than 17,000 islands. It is separated from its naughty neighbor by the Lombok Strait to the east and from Sumbawa by the Alas Strait to the west.

Lombok is a typical island paradise of paddy fields, pristine beaches, jungle escapes and mountain retreats. It is largely inhabited by the local Sasak people with a small percentage of Balinese settlers.

Many hotels on Booking.com are centred around the capital of Mataram and the beaches stretching along the north-eastern coastline, including the sweeping bays of Senggigi. Medana Bay is another great northern location for people wanting to visit the nearby Gili Islands, a wonderful snorkeling location and nightlife choice.

Escape the tropical heat in the mountains surrounding Gunung Rinjani, an active volcano where tourists can break in their newly acquired trekking shoes. Other adventures abound on the southern surf beaches of Lombok.

Lombok International Airport is located 33 km south-west from Mataram and services daily flights mainly from Jakarta and Bali. This round-shaped island is approximately 80 km in both directions and offers plenty of variety for a great holiday.

Hubby and I came to Indonesia to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our room was absolutely beautifully decorated. I was not expecting that at all. ❤️ Huge thank you for the decoration. We extended our stay twice because I really felt safe here and everyone was so sweet. Breakfast was great. If more variety of fruits can be added, it would be great! If you are gluten and lactose intolerant, Dwi is your person. She is amazing! We had dinner at Kliff and Sail. Kliff has an absolutely incredible view. It would be a sin to not go to the Kliff. I want to say a huge thank you to Tari and the check-in employees who worked on January 1st after 10.00 pm. I was scared for my life due to being horribly harassed by loads of male locals at the airport. There is a taxi mafia going on at the airport. I was trembling like a leaf. Tari and her co-workers were beyond sweet. Tari held me and calmed me down. The next day employees were asking me how I was doing. Words cannot express how grateful I am. Thank you from the earth to the moon. Shout out to Dwi. Dwi was hands-on in taking care of my gluten-free bread and pancake. She also was hands-on with the floating breakfast. So sweet! Again Tari was such an angel calming me down. Nena and the other girl with a bob cut at the front desk are sweethearts. Also huge shout out to the male employees receiving my husband and me when we arrived with the aggressive and scammer taxi driver.

The hotel is beautifully garnished, with real good taste in the combination of vegetation and lighting, creating a magical setup above all at night time, but what was truly outstanding was the attention of the personnel working there: sincerely kind and supportive at all times. The room was glorious, spacious and the exterior shower is a big yeah. They also took care of insects on a daily basis by spraying the rooms and common areas before dusk, we got no mosquito bites in one week during the humid month of October. The evening happy 2 hours was class, the restaurants and dinner offers were of high quality and variety. Finally, the excursions offered by the hotel were well organized, showed a not-so-touristy side of the island and had very good local guides. A fantastic week.

The dining area has a view of the infinity pool and the treetop view of palm trees, it was very pleasant. Room had an open air shower with high walls, that was a nice experience. The location of the resort is on a hillside/slope, therefore there are many stairs on this property.

I love the pool, friendly staff, nice and quiet, but not too far away from the beach and all you need. I loved that they do not have plastic water bottles at all. Fresh refills in glass bottles when you need water. I recommend hiring a bicycle they supply for IDR 50,000 a day.

A bustling town with much to explore and many bars and restaurants to choose from. When we come again (and we will) we would like to do more trips exploring the outlying areas. Our main purpose for travel was to attend a wedding at Selong Selo resort (also fabulous with spectacular views) so we didn't do much exploring this time. It was sad to see so much plastic rubbish on roadsides. The infrastructure, at the moment, does not deal with this but efforts are being made.

Gili Air is a cat lovers paradise. There are cats in the hotels, bars and on the beach. Gili Air was very relaxing and quiet due to it being November and the start of the rainy season. The beach area on the western side is lovely to swim at with a small lagoon. There are a number of bars and restaurants on the beach. More restaurants and bars in the 'town' area. The food, drinks and accommodation are much cheaper than tourist Bali areas. The ferry from Bali takes around 4 hours from Sanur Harbour and stops at Nusa Peninda, Gili T, Gili Meno, Gili Air and Lombok. I highly recommend staying at Elephant House and Bungalows. The restaurants along the beach have good food, happy hour cocktails and cats. Getting around Gili Air can be difficult with luggage as there is no motorised transport and only one paved road, the rest of the roads/laneways are sand. There are bicycles and electric scooters available for hire. There are many water based activities on offer and tours to the other islands.

Stayed at tne katamaran hotel, stunning hotel with great food and provided a restful quiet break in stunning surroundings. Both restaurants on site provided great food. The spa was also gorgeous. The entire stay was heavenly! Alu at tne senggigi ferry port organised an amazing day snorkelling at three of the Gili islands. Paradise!

I love my scuba, for me Meno is the perfect place!

I love my scuba, for me Meno is the perfect place! Great dive sites, beautiful corals, full of life and colours, good for advanced or open water divers. For non divers can also be perfect, easy snorkeling, no cars or motorbikes, only walk (2 hours around the island) or push bikes. No big shops, very quite, but it's great to stay on the island, enjoy the water and the quite, for shopping Gili T is only 15 mins boat ride, but without the noise.

The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so...

The local family who manage Green Haven Homestay are so welcoming and friendly. They will do almost anything to cater for travellers, for example I am 68 and wouldn’t have been able to do the 6 km walking tour up and down hills and uneven surfaces so they organised a motorbike tour which was great. The tour of the villages was also good and very interesting and informative to see the local market, pottery being made, textile weaving and bamboo weaving. There was a good variety of food and the family dinner was wonderful, so much delicious local food. The accommodation was suitable in a peaceful environment. I really enjoyed my stay.

Selong belanak is a charming location with friendly locals...

Selong belanak is a charming location with friendly locals and great food! Main beach Munah is buzzing with people holidaying and learning to surf With Warungs along the beach you can grab a board or a cold Bintang and enjoy the water Homestays are the way to go but there are also Also beachfront restaurants and resort style places. Beautiful surrounding areas and still quite enough to enjoy local farming I hope it stays this way and foreign resorts do not take over.

Was exhausted after Mt.

Was exhausted after Mt. Rinjani climb and this impacted on my exploration of the wider area, which I would've liked to have done more of. Also despite being officially the 'dry season', the weather was often overcast and rainy. I think had things been slightly different and I had had more time, the experience would have been better.. But still a lovely place that has less tourists than other parts of Indonesia.

Strawberry picked was fun.

Strawberry picked was fun. Look at google maps to find places with at least 5 good reviews to find somewhere to go. Hiking Pergasagan Hill and spending the night was amazing! Only thing to note though is that there are a lot of mosques here and they are VERY loud. We didn't get much sleep during our stay.

Small island but has everything, the local are very friendly...

Small island but has everything, the local are very friendly, so many bar and nice restaurants, few places for party as well and of course crystal clear water and white sand beaches are perfect for relax but live music after sunset is my favorite in Gili Trawangan! I just wished that the club would open later than 1am but i guess that’s the local regulations so i get that.
