The infrastructure of the MC accommodation I booked this time is sufficient for tourists with modest requirements. The service team is incredibly friendly and helpful, offering plenty of excellent travel tips. The in - house dive shop charges reasonably and doesn't engage in excessive promotion. The rooms come with air - conditioners, which are crucial for those of us who can't stand humidity and heat. The shower uses desalinated cold water that has a faint salty taste, but it doesn't mar the experience. There are basic tables and stools in the room, which meet our needs. The beds are large and comfortable. If you're not picky about room space, it's quite adequate. The daily meals are delicious Indonesian specialties. The hotel is superbly located right by the sea. It's just a ten - minute walk to the nearby beaches for snorkeling. There, you can witness coral gardens and huge underwater drop - offs, along with an abundance of fish and turtles. It's a magnificent sight. Due to the rainy season and our brief stay this time, I didn't get to try scuba diving. However, I'll definitely choose MC accommodation again. They have more upscale and comfortable options available to suit different needs.

Bunaken is part of 5 islands, belonging to the Bunaken National Marine park, a UNESCO World Heritage conservation area. We probably have seen there the most beautiful corals / marine life during our 2.5 weeks trip around Indonesia (Komodo/Seraya/Bali) owing largely to the location/currents swirling around the island. The resort is 10mins by speed boat from Manado (20mins by normal boat), in addition to the 45mins drive from the airport. We got to Bunaken Village directly from the boat, and were greeted by friendly resort operations manager ViVi. Together with Xu Jin (resort owner), the two women team was extremely friendly, and we loved spending time and chatting with them throughout our stay. The resort is nestled within a tropical forest and designed very much in harmony with surroundings. The accommodation itself is very nice, family friendly. Pretty clean bungalows, only 8 rooms in the resort. No air-cons, but a huge fan, which is adequate. At night, just a few meters out of the resort, we witnessed an amazing fireflies lit tree, a natural wonder and a spectacle to match the stars strewn across the night sky. The coral reef is about 150m from the resort, so you need to take into account the water level/currents when snorkelling (Vivi and Xu Jin will help you explaining what is the best way to get to the reef at different times of the day). Our son went diving with the resort instructors. Everyday, we saw amazing marine life in the coral reef; beautiful fish, tonnes of turtles and even dolphins. The colours were amazing. The food was very tasty, mixture of Indonesian/Chinese, we loved eating their breakfast/lunch/dinner. The menu is fixed, but changes everyday, and you just sign up as you go along. The village of Bunaken is 20mins walk away, worth visiting to see the mixed life or Christians and Muslims.

This new resort/cafe is very conveniently located at the centre of the village. The three rooms at the first floor are very confortable, the design is innovative and the various woods selected for the rooms are remarkable. The food is 100% local largely above the average. HAO Yun and his staff are very kind and helpful. The snorkelling directly in front of the rooms is just amazing - THE Bunaken snorkelling spot.

Had a few mishaps with flights and did not think we would actually make it to Bunaken. From the moment you arrive you are in paradise. The staff are what make this resort 5 stars. We have stayed at many luxury resorts and dive resorts around the world and Bunaken Oasis is our top 3. Service, staff, food, diving, room, the pool was all amazing. We stayed 3 nights and wish we stayed longer. Room has a Nespresso machine, water filter in room, beds are huge and comfy! We opted for full board which is a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner. So much food and the food is actually good, big portions and you can order whatever and have as much as your stomach allows. Dive boats, dive guide and dive gear are top notch. We saw heaps of turtles and highly recommend Buanken for diving. Little extras like watching the sunset in the pool and staff bringing out beverages without us even having to ask. Such a romantic and magical resort and highly recommend. The surprise at the end of your stay is so special and very thankful to have stayed at this resort.

10 points on every aspect! It all started with a friendly welcome at the airport where we got picked up to transfer to island, once there we enjoyed a warm welcome and introduction to the resort and diving center, everyone from the staff knew our names after the first night, food was georgeous, the villas very clean and calm, very motivated dive guides - just a perfect place to relax & dive

Villa Queen’s made our Bunaken trip extraordinary.

Villa Queen’s made our Bunaken trip extraordinary. Though we stayed in the Homestay, it felt like a four-star resort thanks to cozy memory foam beds, air conditioning, and a stylish bathroom. Power and internet never failed, which was impressive given the island’s frequent outages—Starlink made working online effortless. We loved having access to multiple pools, a gym, and special experiences like carving lessons. Excursions took us from dolphin tours to cultural sites, and the diving team helped both beginners and certified divers feel at ease in the water. The food blew us away—fresh, flavorful, and farm-to-table quality. It’s the perfect mix of comfort, adventure, and authentic local flavor.

Our stay at Villa Queen’s in Bunaken was unforgettable.

Our stay at Villa Queen’s in Bunaken was unforgettable. Even in the Homestay section, the comfort felt luxurious, with memory foam beds, personal fans, air conditioning, and a well-designed bathroom. Despite frequent island-wide power outages, we always had electricity and fast Starlink internet—ideal for remote work. Guests enjoy access to three pools, a gym, and even unique activities like wood carving with the resident artist. We explored the region through guided tours, dolphin watching, and sunset cruises, while diving options ranged from PADI certifications to beginner-friendly pool sessions. The food, sourced from their own farm hotel, was simply outstanding. Villa Queen’s combines comfort, adventure, and world-class hospitality in one remarkable experience.

Well, a week is certainly enough to get your fill of Bunaken...

Well, a week is certainly enough to get your fill of Bunaken itself, but as soon as you take your eyes out of the water, it is clear that the area has much more to offer with dramatic volcanic mountains lining the Manado Bay. We visited the Tunan waterfall and spent a day in Tangkoko National park, but I wished we could have also explored the highland towns, the Soputan and Lokon volcanoes and Lembeh strait. It is pretty impressive to have so many different experiences within 50 km from Manado.
