Absolutely everything. We were treated like royalty as soon as we walked in the door. The staff are first class. Alessandro in the Bar Room pours the best guiness and makes a mean old fashioned! The grounds are gorgeous, our room was beautiful and the food exceptional. We had to leave early on our last day and the kitchen made us a pack of food and a coffee for the car. Now that's going above and beyond. Thank you

I lived in Dublin 25 years ago, and it was an enchanting, unique place that I adored! When I returned after a quarter of a century, I discovered that it has been affected by multiculturalism, which has diminished the magic it once had. It's unfortunate! While there are still remnants of the old Dublin, the atmosphere is no longer the same. I consider myself fortunate to have experienced the true essence of Dublin during my time there.

Cork itself was a great experience.

Cork itself was a great experience. The city has a relaxed atmosphere, friendly people, and everything is easy to reach. It isn’t overly populated, the air feels clean, and there’s plenty of space to move around without the stress of a crowded city. It’s vibrant without being overwhelming, offering lots to see and do while still feeling comfortable and welcoming. The only thing to be aware of is that winters can feel quite cold and moist, so good layers are a must.

This was our second time to stay, unfortunately both times we arrived at 11:30 pm on a late flight into Dublin and only stayed the night. I think as we arrived so late we should have been allowed to check out late, also I don't know why we had a double and a single bed as there was only the two of us booked in. The hotel was very nice and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was lovely and plenty to choose from.

Kilkenny has a lot to offer. A lot of history and a lot of historic buildings and nice shops etc. The Kilkenny Bookshop... excellent. Lovely ambiance there. Yesterday's shop is a lovely experience. Plenty night life for the more adventurous. We had a meal and breakfast in Rafter's and everything was lovely there. Weren't there long enough to visit any of the buildings but maybe next time.

If you are looking for cutting-edge city life, this is not for you. Dundalk is a former railway town, largely built round the (now defunct) works for the GNRI and with much 19th century red-brick architecture. It has a busy high street with a lot of small shops, pubs and restaurants, none are grand, it reminds me of similar towns in the UK before planning blight took hold. A lot of effort seems to have gone into smartening the place up in recent years, which is nice. Would that other towns of its scale have survived so well it would be nothing exceptional, but as so few have, it has a real charm. As a base, it is well sited to explore the countryside around, which has a long and interesting history, with a lot of historic sites.

Cavan is an excellent town with good hotels, cafes and restaurants. These even include a boutique Ukrainian cafe. The streets are busy and you need to allow time to park. There is a good selection of shops and a major retail park on the edge of Cavan Town. There is an excellent library and a good arts scene with many craft groups around Cavan Town. Cultural events include those arranged by the local Ukrainian community and there is also a Ukrainian community/culture centre also.
