Everything was so perfect. The room was very cozy, clean and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. There is parking on site and the location is good. We stayed in a cottage and had the opportunity to cook. There were hot springs at the hotel and after a day of traveling I felt great about making use of them. Breakfast was wonderful and delicious. booked this hotel in a pinch as a local cabin we booked gave us the incorrect pin code to get key from lockbox and their phone went to voice mail so we were stuck with no place to stay the night. luckily this hotel had a family room available so booked it through the app last minute, staff were really helpful and told me to book through app for the discount. tried the restaurant and enjoyed the food, location is beautiful, staff lovely, prices are comparable to most restaurants in Iceland. the room its self was basic but functional, not much in way of decoration, kitchen wasn't really used but nice to have a fridge. Had heard the showers were crap and limited time for hot water, which is why we didnt book this place initially, but found it had enough hot water to shower four people separately no problem so its a non issue. wish I had booked this place initially rather than a local cabin that let us down, we were getting married at Búðakirkja church in the morning so booking this place last minute was a life saver. Safe to say I will never book a non hotel using booking.com again, now i got to fight to get my money back for the cabin i couldn't use.

This was one of our favourite locations, appearing oasis-like after the drive down from Isafjordur, crossing mountain plains and on gravel roads. It turns out we had booked the biggest room 28, right at the end of the long corridor. It was a super spacious room and we regretted not staying longer to enjoy this retreat. The bed was very comfortable and the location whisper quiet. The restaurant where meals were served was spacious and had lovely views over the water. And the music was just right! The staff were all very helpful and friendly, sharing their local knowledge. This was our base to visit the puffins at Latrabjarg after passing the golden sands at Örlygshöfn Beach. The hotel was conveniently located for a quick and easy run to Stykkisholmur and the ferry to the Snaefellsness Peninsular. It also had its own petrol bowser, air compressor for tyres and car washing station. We would definitely stay here again!

The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason.

The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.

We only spent 1 night and 1 lunchtime in Borgarnes, so my experience was limited. We would have loved to stay longer and explore more! The walk along the seaside is beautiful and a great way to get around. The pool with its hot tubs is excellent - just go here and skip the pricey spas! The town feels so safe and there are some lovely bakeries and cafes. The Settlement Museum is well worth a visit!

Akranes is a pleasant community within east driving distance to Reykjavik. Accommodations there are less expensive compared to the surrounding are but also are not as updated. There was one good sit-down restaurant in the town. The public swimming pool was nice and there a public geothermal baths on the beach there. When the fish factory opens, whole portions of the town stink of fish. If you are looking for more affordable accommodation for a one night stop, this town is a good option, but there is not much to see and do in the town itself.

I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)

I had an absolutely amazing stay at Hotel Langaholt — everything about it exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and down to earth. They made me feel so welcome and even offered me a complimentary upgrade to a newer, more comfortable room. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had the most breathtaking view of both the glaciers and the beach. The hotel has a lovely, charming atmosphere and is wonderfully peaceful, making it the perfect place to relax. Dinner was a real highlight — the seafood was freshly caught in the area and tasted incredible. Breakfast was just as impressive, with a great selection to start the day right. One of my favorite moments was being able to take a short walk down to the beach after dinner. It was the perfect way to unwind — surrounded by nature, with the sound of the waves and the open Icelandic landscape all around. What really stood out to me, though, was the kindness and flexibility of the staff. They even allowed me a late checkout so I didn’t have to rush in the morning. Every little detail was handled with such care, and the genuine hospitality made all the difference. I can’t recommend Hotel Langaholt enough. It’s a special place that captures the beauty and warmth of Iceland in every way. I will absolutely be back and I cannot recommend this hotel enough!
