Lipari is really a great destination.
Lipari is really a great destination. The town is cool and is a great jumping off point to visit the other islands. For sure to visit Panaera an especially Stromboli by night. Bring you bathing suit. Lots of cool beaches even though many are rock. Strongly recommend going after the main tourist season. People are nice and the food and drink spectacular. Visit the castle for incredible Mediteranian history. The only downside is getting there and coming back. It's not easy and boats, buses and planes don't always run on time.Guest review byfred faUnited States - 10.0
Stromboli is one of a kind to check out an active volcano.
Stromboli is one of a kind to check out an active volcano. It also has surprisingly nice beaches. The island is lacking some tourist infrastructure. There is no place to rent snorkel equipment, for example. Food is a little pricier than mainland but nothing too outrageous.Guest review byBond - 10.0

We found the nicest hotel; Sables Noir; they had a spa and a private beach. We hired Bicycles from the Hotel (better than the hire companies), by the hour or half day or whole day and the Hotel staff were all, from top to bottom, an amazing, cohesive and energetic team ; (even though it was end of season.) Volcano is beautiful but very small so shorter stays and/ or home cooking is recommended as the choice of GOOD restaurants is limited. We took a private boat to Lipari for the evening, which was fabulous and something different.Guest review byLucyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Mmmmm, absolutely stunning little island, too crowded in august, some visitors disrespectful of island throwing rubbish where ever for example, and of staff in hotel and Restos, a lot of entitled people seem to visit here. Visited specifically to visit Stromboli, long and complicated travel and expensive hotel but happy to pay as Stromboli was to be the highlight. Booked boat trip on last night and was let down by boat company with no apology or attempt to fix and no time to rearrange. Avoid NOLEGGIO GOMMONI la Stefano if you want a professional reliable boat service. Horrible customer serviceGuest review byJacquelineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Charming and laidback- a great place to relax and chill. Enjoyed impromptu wine tasting at Fenech, and appreciated being shown around the island in an Ape calessino ( 3 wheeled motorbike) ecotour - highly recommended!Guest review byMaryAustralia - 10.0

While we walked a bit around the town, and bought some lovely souvenirs from a local shop, we did not have enough time to see the beach, take a hike, or use the local bus to see other parts of the island. I felt I could have easily stayed for several days, if the weather conditions had been better. It is a very green island that beckons to be explored!Guest review byMaggieUnited States - 8.0

Canneto seems much quiete than Lipari, not much space for parking a car nor many restaurants. But it’s very close to Lipari for night life a restaurants Definitely I would choose it again in the futureGuest review byDonaUnited States - 8.0

Rinella in June was very quiet with not many restaurants to choose from. There was one clothes shop, one grocery shop and one tabbachi. If you don’t have a car, ferry, taxi or Citi bus is the only way to get about - or hiking of course. The bus I think is cheapest but we didn’t use it because we were mostly island hopping. 10 minute ride on ferry to Santa Marina Salina seemed expensive for the trip but I think it gets more expensive at certain popular times of the day. This is a quieter, more remote place to do the hopping (with the extra 10 min journey always tagged on the end from Santa Marina) so if you want a little bit more buzz choose one of the other islands or Santa Marina. Personally, we liked the vibe on Vulcano and loved Stromboli. (Stromboli is probably not the best base for island hopping though as it is the furthest one away). Lipari is big and bustling and didn’t feel like island-life but if you like that sort of thing, it’s a great base. On the whole we enjoyed our choice of base at Rinella. It was a good ‘getaway from it all’ place, where we were forced to do extremely little- when not venturing.Guest review byLorraineUnited Kingdom - 4.0

My review of Lingua has nothing to do with the Hotel Borgo di Mare where we stayed. It is strictly limited to the sea front part of the village where restaurant and various shops are located. Although we came in the second part of June, the summer vacation season had barely started with most of the restaurant not yet fully ready, offering partial services, like no pizza even if already on the menu. We had to manage our expectations on a case-by-case basis. But altogether we found the offering at the time very basic (range of choices), poorly executed and pricy (meaning high season prices)Guest review byFrancoisPortugal - 10.0
