Many thanks to Angelo for saving our travel and being so calm, friendly and helping! We (my wife, two my sons and I) travelled from Milano and had a car accident on the road. We found this beautiful hotel and restaurant and booked the room. When we arrived in about 15 minutes we were welcomed by Angelo and the room was ready and this was so great for tired and stressed family! In the morning we came downstairs to the restaurant to find generous and delicious breakfast! Even more: Angelo managed to arrange a meeting with local car mechanic in very evening we came. They took my car in the morning and at noon we already continued our travel! The room is comfortable with nice beds and perfect bathroom. Good Wifi signal allowed me to finish my working tasks in the evening. Good heating system. Perfect silent city with beautiful church. All you need is 2 min. walk: store, pharmacy, place to eat. If you go a little farther (30 min. walk or 5 min. with the car) you'll find a great supermarket.

    Pavia was a great non-tourist town.

    Pavia was a great non-tourist town. University vibe, well kept buildings and streets. Nice historic center and river area. Good restaurants. For a break from all the tourist, big city hustle - Pavia was perfect.

    Pretty little town!

    Pretty little town! The center has beautiful places to see and the show museum is a must go! I recommend stay close to the old town center as possible. The only thing that I was surprised was: don't expected to have lunch downtown, because they close the restaurants for lunch and open again after 18.30/19.00 for dinner. Some caffee houses are open during lunch time. Vigevano is a sweet little town and I ll definitely come back! P.s. Don't expected to get a taxi easy there. Best to rent a car. Its easy to drive in Vigevano and you can go to small towns around.

    We went here as a short stopover before driving to Portofino...

    We went here as a short stopover before driving to Portofino the next day (as the windy roads to Portofino does not make for suitable conditions late night driving). Honestly, it was a quick couple hours here for us as there were only limited things to see. But we did appreciate the quaint charm especially since we had some free time to kill

    Everything was perfect.

    Everything was perfect. The hostess is very nice and recommended an excellent restaurant in town where we had dinner. Apart from that, everything about the property was perfect. It was quiet, peaceful, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast was great. I would really recommend this place.

    If you like interesting old churches and a lively town...

    If you like interesting old churches and a lively town centre Pavia is a great place to visit for a couple of days. About 5 miles out of town is an amazing monastery complex. You can get there by bus or train but these methods required too much walking in the intense heat so we took taxis. Well worth a visit. Everyone friendly and helpful.

    Pavia has wonderful medieval churches and a big museum at the Castello. The tomb of St. Augustine is amazing, and is a favorite stopping point of Pope Leo XIV. Boethius is also buried in Pavia. The city still keeps traditional Mediterranean hours (2-2 1/2-hour break midday), so it takes a day or two longer to see all the sites. We found good restaurants and would happily have stayed longer. It is said that April-May are the best months to visit, and it was already hot (80 degrees) at the end of May.
