The room at Hotel San Michele was a delightful retreat after a day of exploration. Tastefully decorated with a touch of Mediterranean flair, it exuded comfort and style. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The attention to detail, from the local artwork to the cozy furnishings, made me feel right at home. Overall, Hotel San Michele in Trapani left a lasting impression on me. The warm hospitality, prime location, comfortable accommodations, and delicious capucino make it a top choice for anyone visiting this charming Sicilian city. FAQs about hotels in Sicily

An Island of Intrigue

The largest Italian island, Sicily has long been a place of mystery and intrigue, coveted by civilisations. Its Greek history is most evident at Agrigento whose UNESCO World Heritage-listed Valley of the Temples has amazingly well-preserved Greek temples.

Also important to Greece was Siracusa. Archimedes was born here and there is a theatre and necropolis to explore. However, the most spectacularly located Greek theatre is at Taormina. Set on a hill overlooking the glorious Mediterranean Sea, this theatre points towards Mount Etna smoking away in the distance above Catania. Picturesque Taormina is one of the most popular Sicily resorts and down below there are some wonderful Giardini Naxos hotels on the beach, available on Booking.com.

Another resort boasting some of the best Sicily hotels for families is fabulous Cefalù. Home to a lovely beach, this small town is dramatically located at the foot of a mountain. To the north-west are the Aeolian Islands (also known as the Lipari Islands), volcanic islands with plunging cliffs and secret coves.

Back on the main island, the capital Palermo is a seductive mix of amazing architecture and laidback life. Trapani to the west is known for its salt flats, whereas Messina to the east is where trains drive straight onto the ferry to Reggio Calabria on the Italian mainland.

The resort is situated in a beautiful location with volcanoe , Mt Etna always in one’s view. The hotel and golf course are worth the some what stressful drive up to it’s location. Hotel staff were professional, friendly, and caring to guests needs. Food was delicious with reasonable rates. Room with a breathe taking view of a plush vineyard. Ok the golf course. Great staff. Course is in great shape. Greens hard and fast. Fairways mostly narrow bordered by old in bloom leaves. Very little water. Only issue of concern was that fact of two free roaming dogs which I saw running on the back nine. Golf staff assured me both friendly farm dogs. I highly recommend the hotel and golf course.

The two good things about the hotel are the beach and the entertainment team. The beach is amazing, almost private, clean and with a lot of space to swim. The entertainment team was amazing. The hotel has a lot of activities during the day on the beach, the pool and shows later during the evening The food at the theme restaurants were good.

We were thinking of skipping Palermo based on reviews. Glad we did not. Street food scene was amazing. Landmarks (botanical gardens, catacombs and Steri etc were outstanding.) Architecture was gorgeous. Port at sunset was spectacular. Ballaro market food was great. We walked everywhere. Free bus was also used to get to cathedral and market. This city is a must see!!

Majestic and historically unique city of mysterious Sicily!

Majestic and historically unique city of mysterious Sicily! This very city may attract and passel your curiosity with a variety of facades, images, contrasting with a decent locals and something else. City flows with abandon roads of modern and hysterical buildings, mixing with exquisite fashion ateliers and the cutes private souvenirs’s shops. at the same time you can see that there are many baggers in the area together with the street skilled musicians and painters that are trying to just get by day by day. A mixture of feelings, perhaps, what it worth to experience together with a magical Etna and the history that still needs to be revealed.

My wife and I loved Syracuse for its history, architecture, variety of restaurants and fresh food. The locals are friendly and there is much to see and do. We ended up staying longer in Syracuse than first planned.

Simply a beautiful location. A must-see on anyone's list. Even more spectacular views from Castelmola, a bit further up. Taormina has plenty of shops, restaurants and a good range of properties. Roadways can be tricky. Look out for cruise ship passengers, who crowd Taormina in-season, whether their ships are anchored in Giardini Naxos, Messina or Catania.

We liked Trapani a lot - it was a loose, laid back town with excellent food and friendly people. It was lively but not hectic, it had an active feel but not frantic. There were some tourists, but the town had the feeling of not relying too much on them, and of having a life and identity of its own.

The place is nice and outskirts like Modica and Scili and Ragusa Ibla. Beware the public transportation never on time and can even let you stranded same as what happened to me waiting to go to Syracuse never turned up . Destinations on buses incorrectly shown and assistance is very poor. Besides trains didn't operate and none of the operators Omio or Trainline told us anything and finished up paying for non existent tickes supposed to be substituted by buses that are there late or never turn up like my case to Syracuse.

As parking is difficult in these narrow streeted Roman villages, it's better to find a pay as you go carpark and walk easily around the town, discovering everything to offer, which is a lot in Noto, Beautiful churches, Baroque style buildings, piazzas with nice cafes and quaint parks to sit and ponder, what to do next.
