We stayed at Insomnia Kyoto Oike for six nights, and it was the most pampering, comfortable, cozy, and friendly-designed hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan – and possibly anywhere. The hotel is perfectly located, just a short walk from the train station and about a 20-minute walk to Nishiki Market. The hotel offers everything you could need to make your stay pleasant and welcoming. The rooms are clean, spacious, and beautifully designed, with a fantastic bathroom and all the amenities you could ask for. The lobby features a cozy social lounge with light refreshments available 24/7, including a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, and even a beer/wine machine for only 500 yen per glass. Additional thoughtful features include a washing machine and dryer, a coin exchange machine, bicycles for guest use, refillable water bottles, and more. Everything is designed with the guest’s comfort in mind – simply amazing! When I return to Kyoto, this will undoubtedly be the hotel I choose, without hesitation.

The staff are very polite and helpful. They can speak English well. The room is spacious and very clean. The only downside is the closest bus station is 10minutes away by walking. We have an elderly companion during the trip but overall, the hotel experience was great.

The location was everything!! It's walkable to many major tourist spots like Kiyomizu-dera. Also good for those who wants to get pictures with the Hokan-ji pagoda in the early morning without anyone. The room was cute and have everything you need for your stay. Plus the staffs were so super friendly, helpful and good in English. I will definitely choose this hotel again for the next visit in Kyoto.

Overall, the hotel is great! Yes, maybe the location is not exactly in the center but distance to most famous places is around 2km, which is not that far. Rooms were very clean, they offer 2 types of breakfast: japanese (it'll be a set, you can't choose what to eat) and american (choose whatever) and both were really good. Staff provided everything from umbrellas to iron board for clothes.

The room was spacious and clean. The toiletries and coffee provided were high quality. The staff is very helpful with our needs and most of them understand English. Our front desk, Jane, was able to assist us with our luggage transfer from Kyoto to Osaka. They are also very responsive in the email and messages. The hotel had a really nice atmosphere and the staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was bigger than expected and had nice free amenities and a vinylplayer, which was absolutely cool. The lounge area was very cosy, yet a little small. It was very nice to have free snacks and drinks after a long Day of exploring Kyoto. I would definitely stay here again :)

Miyazu which includes Amanohashidate, is one of three natural sites in Japan. The land bridge spans across the sea is fun to view from the observation points (on both sides) and you can actually bike (20 minutes) or walk (50 minutes) one way across. A small town with lots of charm and beauty.

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.

I stayed for 7 days and travelled with eldery, so i could explore more of kyoto Kiyomizu, fushimi and arashiyama is good but too crowded. What i like is Kurama-dera Temple(Stunning view with lots of maple tree and many site to visit, around 45, and got to experience Eizan Railway that is better and cheaper and longer than arashiyama's sagano train), Daigoji Temple(My mom really liked it as it is calming, not crowded at all and there is garden that is so beautiful), and teamLab Biovortex (definitely a must visit, we liked the ocean section where we can color aquatic animal and it can be scanned so it will move around in the wall!)

I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.

Kyoto has so many surprises! The Kamo River, Pontocho Alley and the gardens were our favorite! So many good restaurants to dine in and it's a very walkable city. So easy to get around. The Fushimi Inari is just a short train ride away. This is a must-visit city in Japan.
