The guesthouse is very conveniently located, just a short 5 minute walk from the Mt Fuji train station. This is a small facility, a basic modern style four story building, very clean and up to date. The bed was very comfortable, firm mattress with four pillows. They provided complimentary unlimited coffee and teas, and also pijamas with slippers. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. They had a variety of items for purchase such as ramen soups and candles. And they had some rental bicycles available.

Traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) serving buffet breakfast and kaiseki dinner. Premium rooms come with their own onsen. Otherwise, there are the excellent onsens at level 10 (10F) and level 1 (1F). The one at 10F boasts a glorious view of Mt Fuji. In the evening after dinner there was a nice taiko drum performance. There's a wine lounge at level 2 (2F) serving free snacks, wine and beer. We arrived on a very rainy day and were pleasantly surprised the next day when Mt Fuji showed itself in its full glory right from the window of our room. The hotel is a little outdated, but still had all the amenities and comforts. Breakfast was also very good. The location and the resort style cafes/restaurants were also a very pleasant surprise. Unfortunately we only stayed the night, wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel offers free shuttle from the train station, that was a bonus. Highly recommend people stay here and explore the area.

The food at the buffet was excellent, the staff were excellent and professional, I had a message at the spa and it was also excellent. The view from the rooms were amazing and I loved the traditional feel/tea room in our hotel room. The location on the lake was beautiful and serene and an easy walk to shops and restaurants. Overall, I thought the stay was exceptional and I really enjoyed my visit.

What a spectacular sanctuary with the most amazing views of Mt Fuji. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. The accommodation is a short walk away from the shops. We absolutely loved our time here. The staff were a 10 out of 10 and very accommodating. Excellent value for money. In fact the best value for money accommodation I have experienced across all our travels.

We enjoyed our stay and there wasn't anything that we didn't like. Room and toilets were very clean and facilities convenient to use. Staff was nice and friendly. We ate at Sushi Restaurant Shaw. Seafood was fresh and sweet, loving it!

Fujiyoshida offers beautiful views of Mt. Fuji — on a clear day, you can see the mountain from almost anywhere in town. It’s very close to Mt. Fuji and other nearby attractions, making it a great base for exploring the area. I actually prefer staying in Fujiyoshida over Kawaguchiko because it’s less crowded but just as convenient and scenic.

The outlets have always been raved about, but they're just high-end shopping outlets that you could find anywhere. It's not unique to Japan and was a bit of a waste of our time. Otherwise, Gotemba is the perfect area overlooking Fuji, and we love returning every year! Rembrandt Premium Hotel is by far the highlight for us with their meals and stay.

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt.

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.

Perfect location! You can see the majestic Mount Fuji from the window. The mountain view in the morning mist is breathtaking. The room is clean and cozy, fully equipped. The host is warm and thoughtful, making me feel as comfortable as staying at home. I will definitely come again!

The town is friendly, but frankly being overrun by tourists, and this was after the Chinese were told to cancel their trips. Mt. Fuji was out and visible most of our stay, especially in the AM until about 10:00am and after 4:00 in the PM.

I recommend staying.

I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. In addition, for young children, you can visit the sheep shed where they keep the sheep to see sheep up close, wander down and the up the hill behind reception, and get the best tasting soft serve ever from the restaurant!

Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical. Gotemba is one of the most significant epicenters for adventure and sightseeing in all of Japan. It is of course an exceptional gateway to hiking and adventuring on Mount Fuji using the Gotemba, Subashiri and Fujinomiya 5th Station traiheads. Hakone-Yumoto onsens/spas and Lake Ashi are also right in the area. Free shuttle buses offer a 20 minute ride straight to the Famous Gotemba Outlets if shopping for 15 hours is what you are in the mood for. Don't forget Odawara Castle just down the way or Fuji-Q and the Fuji Speedway just up the way, to name a few. Gotemba ROCKS! Mount Fuji and the Osunabashiri descending trail are really the #1 world class attraction among many. Furthermore, all the special local people who support all the vast Gotemba opportunities are the best and truly loved.

We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hr
