The front desk was able to inform us in detail the facilities and guidelines. They accommodated our request that our beds are next to each other since we have teens with us. Hostel was well-organized. Facilities were great. A short walk to Kansui Park which we loved! The surrounding neighborhood was very serene. And Iruka is just a 7 to 10min walk from Toyama Station. They also gave us complimentary RT Tram tickets which we used to visit the Glass Museum! Most of all, they were kind enough to let us leave our luggages for the entire day and assisted us hailing taxi cabs to our next destination. Thank you very much, Kato-san! The room was huge with an ocean view. I stayed on a Tuesday night, and despite the size of the hotel, the onsen was quiet and relaxing. There’s both an indoor and an outdoor bath facing the ocean. At night there were only four people including me, and in the morning I had it all to myself. WIFI was a bit slow on my phone but worked well on the laptop. Breakfast was mostly Japanese dishes, and you can heat up some items on a small charcoal grill, which was a nice. The staff were very kind, and there are English signs throughout the hotel. They offer complementary refreshments in the lobby which was great. The breakfast buffet was really varied and super good. The room was great, slightly older but with everything we needed; fridge, electric kettle, tea, coffee, amenities, AC, black-out curtains, humidifier/air cleaner and a really comfortable bed. We also had good views over the city. They offer luggage transfer service, but note that it's overnight, so those doing e.g. the Tateyama Alpine Route wanting to have the luggage transferred to the next location within the same day are recommended to use the Tateyama Alpine Route luggage transfer service available at the Dentetsu Toyama station. It was a wonderful experience for me since this is my first time to snow mountain , the view at Tateyama Kogen Hotel was really stunning . When i checked in it was very foggy and the next morning i just couldn't believe my eyes the ALPS peak is just in front of my room window . It was so close to me . It's really beautiful with the sunrise . Since i went there early 1st May , i can only see the snow wall corridor and the beauty of Kurobe dam . The view is really pretty. oh if you are planning to drive to Ogizawa , don't worry there are plenty of car park but make sure you arrive early . The highlight of Imizu was the quality of the fish—fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Shinminato Uchikawa, with its canals and fishing boats, has a uniquely peaceful atmosphere. I forgot about the library but overall not many sights near the train stations for a tourist. I came from the Ogizawa side of the Tateyama Kurobe route and thought that I could have taken the shinkansen to Nagano or train to Kanazawa to spend the day/night there instead. However, Toyama seems like an ideal overnight stop from the Tateyama side. Despite being a fish port, I thought that the popular kaiten sushi shops by the train stations are a little overrated, though still good.
