We stayed at Passi Villa in Pasikuda for a peaceful vacation, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was smooth, and the staff greeted us warmly, making us feel right at home. The villa had a calm and tropical atmosphere, which set the perfect mood for relaxation.
Our room was spacious, clean, and had a stunning view of the beach. Waking up to the breathtaking sight of the sunrise the morning was one of the best parts of our stay. The calmness of the surroundings, combined with the ability to watch the sun’s first rays over the ocean, made each morning feel magical. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the décor added to the serene, coastal vibe. The bathroom was modern, with all the necessary amenities.
One of the highlights of our stay was the swimming pool, which offered a gorgeous view of the beach. It was beautifully maintained and perfect for cooling off after a day in the sun. We spent a relaxing afternoon there, enjoying the peaceful ambiance, the beach view, and the great service by the poolside.
We dined at the hotel restaurant several times, and the food was delicious, especially the fresh seafood.
The location of Passi Villa was ideal for a beach getaway, with easy access to the ocean and water activities. The calmness of the surroundings allowed us to truly unwind, making it a perfect retreat.
Overall, our stay at Passi Villa exceeded our expectations, and we would highly recommend it to couples looking for a tranquil and romantic escape. We look forward to returning soon!

This hotel stands out in so many ways! Firstly, the food is simply extraordinary, offering a menu with great variety. What stands out the most, is the fact they only serve freshly caught fish and seafood, crafting dishes that offer exceptional value for money. Every meal felt wonderfully generous, with complimentary starters, plentiful bread baskets, and a variety of options. The breakfast is equally impressive, featuring unlimited à la carte choices, superb bread baskets, fresh croissants, and an abundance of juices and lassis.
We stayed in two very spacious beach-front tents, which were fantastic. The common areas, including the bar and dining area, provided stunning views and were beautifully designed. The beach itself was vast and pristine, with no other hotels or properties in sight.
The entire hotel is a marvel of thoughtful design, with every detail carefully chosen. Finally, the staff, led by Umberto, the Italian General Manager, were outstanding from the moment we arrived until our departure. Each member of the team, from the waiters to our butler, was incredibly friendly and attentive to detail. Umberto the GM who is a former chef, is deeply involved with the culinary offerings, elevating the dining experience to new heights. The standard set by this hotel is unparalleled, particularly in terms of value for money. Highly recommended for an unforgettable stay!

We booked a Deluxe Double Room with a sea view, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The room was spacious, clean, and the views were stunning. The peaceful, calm atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax and unwind.
The food was another highlight! Every meal we had was delicious, but the seafood was especially exceptional—fresh and full of flavor. It’s clear that the kitchen takes great pride in its offerings.
One of the best features of this eco-resort is the private beach. It’s a serene spot to enjoy the natural beauty of Sri Lanka without the crowds. I recently stayed in this hotel in Pasikuda, Sri Lanka, which is beautifully located on a clean beach with gentle waves during this season. (September 2024) The hotel rooms were modern and spacious, providing a comfortable stay. They also have a dedicated water sports section that offered exciting Jet Ski rides and a snorkeling trip to the nearby "Kayankerni" Coral Reef for a reasonable additional cost. Snorkeling was an amazing first-time experience for both my wife and me, and it was impressive that even some 5-star hotels do not have a water sports center like this one.
The hotel features a large swimming pool with a depth of 9 feet at one end, perfect for a refreshing swim. The location is ideal, with no stones or corals that could hurt your feet while enjoying the beach.
Although the hotel manager was not present during our visit, we were warmly greeted by the manager from their sister hotel, who made us feel welcome.

Wow, this place blew our minds. Absolutely stunning resort right on the beach - even better than pictured. The food was also sensational (fried butter prawns in particular), rooms beautiful and the staff rounded out the experience.
All of the staff were lovely and went over and above to ensure we had a great stay. Ruchi (the animator) was a highlight. He proactively engaged my three year old son on the first day and by day two were fast friends - making our stay even more relaxing and enjoyable.
We were there for 3 nights and while I normally want to get out and about - I was really happy to spend the whole time at the resort.
Can’t recommend Maalu Maalu any higher

Beautiful garden clearly made with a lot of love and care, idyllic location near the beach while still quite close to town centre. Really relaxing lovely place! Apart from the beach there is nothing much in walking distance though we did go for dinner at Bayceylons which was very close and good. Hotel excursions expensive but there’s a local company that do fishing and snorkelling trips at a good price.

Batticaloa is very good city, peaceful, less traffic, sort of more rural touch as compared to Colombo. People are also very cooperative and helpful in all ways. Its a small town. The beach is also very neat and clean.

Kalkudah is one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka!
Kalkudah is one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka! The water here has an amazing emerald colour and it is very clean, transparent. It is a very long and beautiful sandy beach with a free natural spirit, with hardly anyone around. We enjoyed swimming almost all the day! No tourist attractions but some restaurants like Laya Waves are and Swiss Cafe on the shore are the options. Kalkudah works fine for yoga, meditation, walking along, etc. There are some cows and their manure in some spots, but it is better than plastic garbage. Some days the waves were bigger than Passikuda, but no corals on Kalkudah. Comparing to Passikuda we liked Kalkudah much better. Passikuda is over crowded with a long chain of luxury hotels and is not as beautiful. Anyway if anyone is coming with children Passikuda has shallow waters, as well as some tourists attractions. In any case, on Kalkudah one can dig a hole in the sand for children, where the ocean water will come, while making the natural baths that way.
